摘要： Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating assignment of a dedicated channel upon which to communicate packet-formatted data in a packet communication system. A channel allocation request message generator positioned at a mobile station generates a packet channel request while the mobile station is camped-on a packet data control channel. And, a channel allocation signal message generator, upon detection of the request, selectably generates a channel allocation through the packet data control channel.
