Abstract: A tow of textile material is scoured and rinsed to remove its original finish. The tow in a wet condition is directed to a cutter which cuts the tow into fibers of desired length. The fibers are separated from one another and are dried prior to collection. A new finish is applied to the material at an appropriate point in the process subsequent to removal of the original finish and in advance of collection.
