Abstract: An elevator system for a building having a plurality of floors, an elevator car mounted to serve the floors, and hall lamps disposed at the floors served by the car, which lamps are selectively operated in response to predetermined actions of the elevator car. Driver circuits are disposed between the hall lamps and a power supply. The power supply is limited as to the current it will supply, with the maximum current being less than the normal current inrush to a hall lamp. A shorted hall lamp or associated driver circuit turns off the power supply until such time that the shorted load circuit is not selected for connection to the power supply.
