Abstract:
A microstrip manifold providing a plurality of frequency selective outputs from a single input signal including a common input microstrip transmission line terminated at one end and a plurality of output microstrip transmission lines disposed substantially normal to the input transmission line and coupled thereto by means of respective yttrium iron garnet (YIG) sphere resonators, each being tuned to a predetermined resonant frequency by a separate magnetic field to provide isolation between each of the output transmission lines. Additionally, each of the output transmission lines are terminated at a short circuit in proximity to the respective YIG sphere. The input conductor is not grounded at the YIG spheres but is terminated at the end of the line.
Abstract:
Desired magnetic field shaping in a delay line for controlling its dispersive characteristics is achieved by placement of a ferrite material in intimate contact with a high Q magnetic insulating (YIG) material. Low loss is achieved by maintaining the RF coupling circuit in intimate contact with the crystal end and having the dispersive characteristic of the line controlled by ferrite magnetic field shaping material and the RF circuit interpenetrate. Dispersive characteristics of magnetoelastic delay lines are thus controlled through field shaping.
Abstract:
Described is a small, lightweight ferrite phase shifter, constructed in a strip line wave energy transmission assemblage, which is small enough to fit into a steerable antenna array while at the same time providing good electrical isolation between adjacent phase shifters in the array.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a novel broadband surface wave acoustic transducer having unidirectional transduction characteristics and to surface wave acoustic devices employing the broadband unidirectional transducer. In the preferred embodiment, the transducer comprises an interdigital electrode arrangement having an electrically conductive common strip meandering through the interdigital spaces of the electrode arrangement. The interdigitally arranged electrodes are spaced in accordance with a repeating series (n + 1/4) lambda , (n + 3/4) lambda , (n + 1/4) lambda , (n + 3/4) lambda . . . , where n is an integer and lambda is an acoustic wavelength. The meandering strip provides a common terminal for the interdigital electrodes so that signals 90* out of phase may be applied between the electrodes and the common terminal.
Abstract:
The storage of digital, multiple-tap, variable delay pulse compression and coding is carried out directly at microwave frequencies. Nondispersive acoustical delay crystals are employed with surface wave acoustical grating transducers having a periodic equivalent to an acoustic wavelength. An arrangement employing a plurality of channels is disclosed. In another arrangement, a series of aligned transducers is used to obtain variable delays.
Abstract:
A MULTIPLEXING DEVICE IS DISCLOSED EMPLOYING A PLURALITY OF FERROMAGNETIC RESONATORS WHICH COUPLE ALL WAVE ENENERGY WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE OPERATING BANDS FROM A BROAD BAND OF WAVE ENERGY PROPAGATING ALONG A PAIR OF PARALLEL WAVE ENERGY TRANSMISSION LINES AND TRANSMIT THE COUPLED ENERGY TO ASSOCIATED SECONDARY WAVE ENERGY TRANSMISSION LINES POSITIONED ADJACENT EACH OF THE RESONATORS.
