    摘要: The present invention provides methods for predicting feed efficiency in animals by correlating the association of mitochondrial function with feed efficiency. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method for determining feed efficiency comprising comparing proteins patterns and activity levels with antibody interaction of proteins associated with mitochondrial function and feed efficiency. In an alternative embodiment, the present invention also provides methods for predicting feed efficiency in animals by identifying animals having genetic mutations or polymorphisms that are associated with mitochondrial function and feed efficiency.

    摘要: Probiotic compositions comprising a bacterium that is capable of producing nitric oxide and a substrate of nitric oxide synthase are provided. Also provided are methods of improving the gastrointestinal health of a subject by orally administering a bacterium capable of producing nitric oxide and orally administering a substrate of nitric oxide synthase.
