    摘要: A method and apparatus for making metal flakes from a body or stream of molten metal. The apparatus includes a wheel with serrations on its periphery, and means for rotating the wheel in a vertical plane. Means are provided for controlling the relative positions of the wheel and the upper surface of the body of molten metal which is subjected to change. In this manner, the serrations on the bottom of the wheel are disposed a preselected distance into the body of molten metal. When the serrations rotate out of the body, molten metal collects on the serrations and freezes into solid flakes. Means are provided for removing the flakes from the serrations and for collecting the flakes at one location on the periphery of the wheel.

    摘要: An apparatus and a method is provided for determining the equilibrium of the partial pressures of two gases having different thermal conductivities. The apparatus includes a single sensor adapter to be contacted by the two gases, and heated by a flow of electrical current through the sensor. A circuit is provided for maintaining the sensor at a constant level of electrical resistance and hence at a constant temperature. The sensor, in addition, is connected as one leg of a bridge circuit, the output of which represents changes occurring in the thermal conductivity of a mixture of the gases.

The apparatus includes a hollow tubular probe having one end for disposal in the liquid metal, and the other end connected to a housing containing a gas sensing element. A hollow piston is located in the hollow probe for disposal in the liquid metal through the end of the probe disposed in the liquid metal, the piston having a lower porous end. A solenoid coil having a plunger translatable in the coil is connected to means mechanically connecting the plunger to the piston for vertically moving the piston in the liquid metal.
