    摘要: A multimeter having an elongated housing with a fixed recess for receiving a current-carrying conductor is provided. The multimeter is adapted to measure various parameters including a.c. and d.c. voltage, resistance, and a.c. current. On one end of the elongated housing of the multimeter is a C-shaped current sensor mounted around the fixed recess for measuring a.c. current in the current-carrying conductor and on the other end is a pair of test leads for measuring resistance, a.c. voltage, and d.c. voltage. The current sensor and the test leads provide input signals to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to obtain digital samples which are displayed as measurement results according to the selected measurement mode.

    摘要: An instrument housing comprises an upper housing portion and a lower housing portion together enclosing instrumentation circuitry. An outer surface of one of the lower housing portion is formed, circumferentially, with a series of gasket locking elements. A gasket injection molded on the series of dovetail-shaped gasket locking elements forms a seal between the upper and lower housing portions. Mechanical locking between the gasket and dovetail-shaped elements retains the gaskeet in place between the housing portions so that the gasket tends not to dislodge from the instrument even if it is dropped.

    摘要: An electronic instrument is provided with a shielding system consisting of two metallic shields press fitted into plastic instrument case parts without the need for any additional parts to provide electrical and mechanical attachment. In one embodiment, a bottom shield is press fitted onto protuberances inside of a lower case part and electrically connected to a common jack base on a circuit board within the instrument by a vee spring on the bottom shield. A top shield is press fitted into a capturing region of a switch support case part and includes an extension arm and extension ring that is mechanically held by case screws and guides already required by the plastic case. In that position, the extension ring is held in electrical contact with a common pad on the circuit board, the common pad being in electrical contact with a common trace, a common area, and the common jack base.
