One implementation includes a method for managing data in a nonvolatile memory device, comprising attaching a removable nonvolatile memory device to a host system; activating the nonvolatile memory device by the host system; in response to activating, contacting a server system over a network at an address stored on the nonvolatile memory device; receiving data from the server system; and storing the data on the nonvolatile memory device.
