摘要: A passive low pass, &pgr;-type filter of a surface mounted device configuration has two stack capacitors disposed radially inwardly of a coil, otherwise known as an inductor. Each capacitor has a number of ground plates successively stacked between a number of signal plates. The ground plates electrically engage a front and rear ground band which circles the external surface of a non-conductive encapsulant of the filter. A forward and rearward conductive member or sheet engages each end of the encapsulant. One end of the coil is engaged to the front sheet and the opposite end is engaged to the rear sheet. The signal plates of the forward capacitor are engaged to the front sheet and the signal plates of the rearward capacitor are engaged electrically to the rear sheet.

摘要: An EMI filter (10) that makes use of a ferroelectric-ferromagnetic composite, member, or slab (12) in connection with capacitive and inductive elements. The geometrical structure of the filter (10) is such that the mutually orthogonal electric fields and magnetic fields generated by the capacitive and inductive elements penetrate the volume of the composite (12). In some designs, capacitive plates (14, 18, 32, 34) are split to avoid setting up eddy currents in the plates (14, 18, 32, 34) which oppose the penetration of magnetic flux through the composite (12). Various structural designs can be provided to define the capacitive elements and the inductive elements in different configurations relative to the composite to satisfy the desirable requirements. One particular low-pass design includes providing a slab (12) of the composite with plates (14, 18, 32, 34) on opposite sides of the slab (12) that define capacitors, and a conductive strip (20) wrapped around the slab (12) and electrically connected to the hot capacitive plates (14, 18) that define the inductor. This basic configuration can be extended to a cylinder (52) made of the composite, where a ground plane (56) is provided on one surface (54) of the cylinder (52), and the hot capacitor plates (60, 64) are provided on the other surface (62) of the cylinder (52), where a conductive strip (70) on the other surface (62) defines the coil. A multi-layer filter (76) can be provided that includes layered substrates (78) where metallized vias (80) extending through the substrates (78) define a coil, and ground planes (124) and capacitive plates (112, 114) on alternating substrates (78) define the capacitive elements.

摘要: An RF connector assembly has a first connector housing with a first end constructed for connectably receiving a terminal end for a first coaxial cable and a second connector housing with a first end constructed for connectably receiving a complementary terminal end for a second coaxial cable. The terminal end and complementary terminal end are complementarily constructed for engagement to each other. The first and second connector housing are constructed at their respective second ends to connect to one another. The first connector housing receives a tubular shield mounted about and connected to the respective terminal end. The tubular shield has a set of resilient radially inwardly extending contact fingers for electrically connecting about the complementary terminal end when the second connector housing is connected to the first connector housing.

摘要: A spark plug is provided which is suitable for use in a spark ignition system for an internal combustion engine. The spark plug is equipped with a specially configured firing tip on each of its electrodes for the purpose of minimizing the demand voltage of the spark plug, as well as extending the life of the spark plug by maximizing the time over which the demand voltage will remain within an acceptable level. For this purpose, the firing tips are configured such that their firing surfaces include at least three edges and three corners which serve as arc initiation sites of a relatively low resistance arc path between the electrodes.

摘要: An ignition cable terminal assembly connects an ignition cable to a stud terminal of a spark plug. The assembly includes a metal sleeve that has a crimp barrel at an upper end, an intermediate compression ring, a lead-in below the compression ring and an inwardly directed stop ring below the lead-in. A lock sleeve inside the metal sleeve, has a plurality of spaced longitudinal channels in an inner cylindrical surface that communicate with an annular cavity at an upper end. The longitudinal channels include lock channels that have lock ledges at the cavity and release channels between the lock channels. Upper and lower ring gears are inside the lock sleeve. The lower ring gear engages the top of the stud terminal and has radial teeth that slide in the channels of the lock sleeve. The lower ring gear also carries a plurality of circumferentially spaced, cantilevered, spring contact arms that extend below the bottom of the lower ring gear for establishing an electrical connection between the metal sleeve and the stud terminal of the spark plug. The upper ring gear has radial teeth that slide in the release channels and index into engagement with the lock ledges to lock the terminal assembly to the spark plug. The upper ring gear has ramps engaging ramps of the lower ring gear for indexing. A spring biases the upper and lower ring gears downwardly. The ring gears recede into the lock sleeve and index the upper ring gear into engagement with the lock ledges to lock the spring contact arms into tight engagement with the stud terminal when the ignition cable assembly is pushed down onto the stud terminal.
