    Abstract: A display device is connected to the exterior of a document processing device. The display device includes a screen positioned to display in a first direction away from the exterior. Lights are connected to the display device. The lights are positioned to emit light in second direction toward the exterior of the document processing device. A processor is operatively connected to the display device and the lights. The processor is adapted to control the lights to emit corresponding lighting of a graphic item appearing on the screen.

    Abstract: An app maintains different multi-modal output signatures. Each multi-modal output signature contains instructions for transducer output with speaker output and/or display output. Also, each multi-modal output signature is unique and different from all other multi-modal output signatures. Further, each different multi-modal output signature corresponds to only one of many possible alerts that may be generated by a printer. The app is adapted to control the printer user interface system and/or a portable device user interface system, to output these multi-modal output signatures in coordination.

    Abstract: Instructions to print and deliver a printed item to a destination are received by a self-navigating mobile printer that makes autonomous printing decisions. An internal controller of the mobile printer autonomously determines whether to print the printed item using an internal printer within the mobile printer or an external printer, which may print faster and at lower cost than the internal printer. A self-drive unit of the mobile printer can move the mobile printer to an external printer, based on the internal controller's determination to print the printed item using the external printer. The printed item can be automatically retrieved from an output of the external printer and fed into a storage compartment of the apparatus, using an automated retrieval feeder of the mobile printer. The mobile printer then moves to the destination using the self-drive unit under control of the internal controller to deliver the printed item.
