Abstract: Described herein is a method of processing location and level changes for managed devices, which includes a child device sensing a move to a new location and level in a tree structure including levels having different permissions and policies, and the child device receiving permissions and policies for the new location and level via a master clone file. Also described is a method of updating policies in a device in a fleet of image forming devices that includes identifying a setting in the device that should not be updated automatically, setting a respective flag associated with the identified setting, thereby indicating that the setting is not to be updated automatically, receiving a file with updated policy values, and updating settings of the device according to the updated policy values except for the identified setting. Also described is a method for processing exemption requests in a fleet of image forming devices.

Abstract: A menu of processing options of a publicly shared machine is presented on a user interface of a remote computerized device using an application (app). The publicly shared machine can include a printing component, a scanning component, a non-contact user identification component, etc. The app creates a job from options selected from the menu. The job is transmitted from the app to the publicly shared machine. The publicly shared machine notifies the app of availability to perform the job. In turn, the app provides a notice on the user interface of the remote computerized device that the publicly shared machine is available to perform the job. These methods further identify the user present at the publicly shared machine using the non-contact user identification component, allowing the publicly shared machine to perform the job based on the non-contact user identification, without requiring additional user interaction with the publicly shared machine.

Abstract: A system for performing multifunction device session management includes a multifunction device and a computer-readable storage medium that includes one or more programming instructions. The one or more programming instructions cause the multifunction device to detect by one or more sensors of the multifunction device an indication that a session is to be initiated, in response to detecting the indication that the session is to be initiated, initiate the session, retrieve a device policy associated with the multifunction device from a data store associated with the multifunction device, identify a condition from the device policy, monitor for the occurrence of one or more triggers during the session, wherein each trigger is associated with the identified condition in the device policy, and in response to detecting that one or more of the triggers have occurred at the multifunction device, perform one or more actions pertaining to completion of the session.

Abstract: An exemplary apparatus includes a processor, a printing device, a user interface, and an input/output device. The printing device is in communication with the processor. The user interface is in communication with the processor. The input/output device is in communication with the processor and with a computerized network external to the apparatus. The processor is adapted to maintain a general lexicon of mask words. The processor is adapted to provide, through the user interface and the computerized network, options to change the mask words in the general lexicon to create a local lexicon. The processor is adapted to redact the mask words in the local lexicon from at least one of: printed items; items displayed on the user interface; and items provided to the computerized network through the input/output device.
