A sensitive method for identifying red blood cell antigens or antibodies thereto is provided. A fluorescent bead is conjugated to a receptor specific for a red blood cell antigen (ligand) or alternatively with an antigen for determination of antibodies. The conjugate is mixed with a red blood cell containing composition. A change in fluorescence compared with a control reveals the presence or absence of the antigen or antibody.

A compact special effects fogger has a small case with a handle on top for ease in transportation. A compressor box is positioned in the case against the base, and against one side and one end of the case. A fogger head box extends across the case on top of the compressor box. The two boxes form within the case a fan chamber at one end, a compressor cooling duct along one side, and an air entrainment duct along the top. A motor drives a compressor within the compressor box. A shaft from the motor extends into the fan chamber. A squirrel cage fan driven by the shaft draws air in through a round opening in the first end of the case and increases pressure in the fan chamber, causing air to flow through the ducts. The fogger head box has an oil sump and an oil intake is mounted in the sump. Oil tubes lead to a nozzle assembly within the fogger head. Compressed air flows through an air cooler in the compressor box and through a water trap in the fan chamber and into the nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly releases an air-oil mist which flows through openings in an end of a U-shaped marble chamber to remove large oil droplets from the mist. The air and oil mist flows outward through a curved outlet, and then flows upward through an opening in the top of the fogger head box. Air flowing from the fan chamber through the air entrainment duct mixes with an entrains the mist and carries it outward through a full rectangular opening at the top of the second end of the case.

A fan advertising device has a portable barrel with a fan, a pivotable or tiltable stand and a modified exterior fan housing. Metal fittings on the inside of the barrel, near the output end of the fan, allow for connection of metal inserts for accessories. The sock is held in place by a shock cord that fits into a groove on the exterior of the fan housing near the output end. A circular opening is located below the groove but above the fan to allow various objects, such as ping pong balls, to be placed into the airstream inside the sock. Those objects act as noise makers, attracting attention to and adding to the visual effectiveness of the sock. A light may be attached to the grate on the inside of the fan allowing for illumination of the entire sock. Illuminating the sock is useful for increasing visibility during darker hours.

The present invention is a fan with adjustable vanes for controlling the width of the wind generated by the fan. The vanes are adjustable to any angle. Preferably, the vanes are set at 10° with the generated wind for a narrow, focused beam, and to 45° with the generated wind for a diffuse, flood beam. The vanes are adjustable from a dial located on the outside of the fan housing. A motor drives the fan. The motor is controlled by a rotating dial on the outside of the fan housing. The rotating dial allows for adjusting the motor speed from 0 to 100%. Pressing a “burst” button located on the outside of the fan housing instantly provides 100% motor speed. The fan motor runs at full speed for as long as the “burst” button is depressed. A mounting yoke is pivotally connected to opposite sides of the fan housing, allowing the fan to be set at various angles.

A diffusion fogger is packed on a road case. Fans draw air through a baffle chamber and through fan openings into a fan chamber, an air compressor above the fan chamber provides compressed air to a fog head assembly. The fog head assembly releases an oil mist fog into a fog duct. Air from the fan chamber is blown through the duct and out through a front opening, entraining and delivering the fog. Air from the fan chamber is circulated over a path that serves to cool the compressor, compressed air, and exhausts from the outlet ducts. The fog head is a removable vertical assembly of an oil sump chamber and a nozzle array chamber. The nozzles, with inlets to an air manifold draw up filtered oil from an oil manifold and spray a fine mist of oil and decompressed air into the nozzle chamber. The mist continues through the next above baffle box filled with marbles, removing large oil droplets. Oil collected by the marbles drains through the nozzle chamber into the sump, and the mist continues upward and horizontally through the top filter chamber, which has a foam filter. The mist is exhausted into the mist duct, where it is entrained in the air delivered by the fans which carries the fog to the desired location. The fog head and mist duct are located in a vertically hinged door on the road case.
