    Abstract: Disclosed is a method of producing a polymerizable compound that enables production of, in high yield, a polymerizable compound used for producing an optical film or the like. The disclosed method of producing a polymerizable compound comprises reacting a compound represented by formula (I) with a compound represented by formula (II) in an organic solvent in which a base having a pKa from 6.1 to 9.5 is present, so as to obtain a reaction solution containing a polymerizable compound represented by formula (III).
