A method of extracting hydrocarbons from and storing carbon dioxide in a formation including, for N cycles, inputting an nth set of output values into a trained AI model, obtaining an (n+1)th set of injection values from the trained AI model, injecting an (n+1)th amount of carbon dioxide and an (n+1)th amount of treatment fluid into a hydrocarbon reservoir based on the (n+1)th set of injection values, determining an (n+1)th set of output values from the formation, and rewarding or penalizing the trained AI model based on the nth set and the (n+1)th set of output values.

Abstract: A method of measuring cement volumetric changes includes loading a sample cement into a flexible container and surrounding the flexible container by a column of fluid in a chamber. The temperature of the column of fluid is adjusted to a cement setting temperature, and the sample cement is allowed to set over several hours. The pressure of the column of fluid is adjusted to a test pressure. The temperature of the column of fluid in the chamber is adjusted to induce volumetric changes in the set cement. As the volume of the set cement changes, fluid volume adjustments are applied to the column of fluid in the chamber to maintain the pressure of the column of fluid in the chamber constant at the test pressure. The volumetric changes in the set cement are determined from the fluid volume adjustments applied to the column of fluid in the chamber.

Further, the method includes determining the plurality of thin section images from the plurality of extracted images and generating a classification of the plurality of thin section images based on a given classification criteria. The geological thin-section based machine learning models is trained based on the generated classification of the plurality of thin section images and a wellbore drilling plan is generated based on the geological thin-section based machine learning models.

Abstract: A method and system for measuring strain rate at a scale shorter than gauge length are disclosed. The method includes deploying a plurality of discrete seismic receivers and a distributed acoustic system (DAS) in a borehole extending into a formation. The method further includes obtaining a first DAS measurement (DAS1) between a first position and a second position, obtaining a second DAS measurement (DAS2) between a third position and a fourth position, and obtaining a discrete seismic receiver measurement between the second position and the fourth position. The method further includes determining an DAS equivalent discrete measurement (DASeq) from the discrete seismic receiver measurement, determining a sub-gauge DAS measurement (DASsg) based, at least in part, on the first DAS measurement, the second DAS measurement and the DAS equivalent discrete measurement, and determining mechanical characteristics of the formation based, at least in part, on the sub-gauge DAS measurement.

The first overall score is greater than the second overall score.
