    Abstract: The frame of a cantilevered gate is formed from upper and lower tracks, each of which is formed from a series of track sections. Adjacent track sections are spliced together. At the lower track, two mirror-image lower splicing elements fit over opposite sides of the joined track sections. At the upper track, a single upper splicing element forms an external connection between the track sections, while a splicing block forms an internal connection. Paired upper and lower track sections are joined by upright members. The upright members are seated at opposite ends within a tubular member of a track section. Each tubular member includes an elongate external fin to which pickets are attached.

    Abstract: A barrier is formed from a framework of posts and rails. Infill sections cover openings in the framework. Post brackets connect posts to rails. Each post bracket includes a collar and an attached holder. The collar is positioned over a post and lowered to a level where a rail is to be attached. The rail is secured within the holder. The holder and the collar are relatively rotatable. Adjacent rails in the barrier are interconnected end-to-end by adapters plugged into the hollow end of each rail. The adapters overlap, and are pinned together, permitting relative rotation between rails. Relative rotation of components permits barrier slope adjustment. Exposed vertical lateral edges of infill sections are covered by an elongate edge protection band having a central ridge and a pair of side recesses. An exposed edge portion of an infill section is received within the recess and clamped against the framework.

    Abstract: A barrier is formed from one or more intermediate posts situated between a pair of end posts. Long flexible cables interconnect the end posts and extend adjacent each intermediate post. Each cable is wrapped one or more times around each post. End posts may include dual columns that permit cable windings around both columns. A spike embedded within the end of each cable enhances the purchase that can be gained by a clamp that presses the cable against the end post. The clamp has contact elements with converging side walls that grip the cable near the spike. To maintain the spike in place, a wire rope clip grips the cable over a constriction in its contained spike. Each cable is enclosed by a cable cover extending between adjacent posts. The cable cover is suspended at each post by a pair of tiltable hangers.

    Abstract: A barrier, such as fence panel, is formed from a plurality of channel-shaped rails and plurality of upright members. Each upright member traverses the rail channels of the rails forming the barrier and is mechanically connected to the rail, such that the upright member is selectively tiltable with respect to the rail within an angular adjustment range. The mechanical connection between rail and upright member may be formed by a weld, such as a resistance weld, by a permanent adhesive, or with a fastener such as bolt or screw. A tab that extends from the rail web may be used to connect a rail to an upright member. The tab may depend from a bracket installed within the rail channel, or may be cut out and bent into the channel from the web. The tab is rotatable about an axis situated at or adjacent the web.

    Abstract: A barrier is formed from bollards and posts that are embedded in a terrain. The bollards and posts are interconnected by, and support, vertically-spaced runs of primary rails. The rails in each run are aligned in end-to-end relationship. A strengthening cable extends within each run, and is anchored at each end within a concrete-filled bollard. Each bollard contains an elongate, vertically-oriented cable entry port that can receive the end portions of all of the cables in the runs, disposed in laterally-spaced relationship. A two-part closure covers the cable entry port, and includes spaced cable openings that maintain the cables that exit the bollard at a desired lateral separation distance. A cable confinement bracket installed at each post prevents the cables from flying out of the primary rails after an impact. The bracket features a spine that restrains the cables, which pass through bays notched in the spine's lower edge. Each cable may be formed from structural strand, and may include attached cable clips to enhance the cable's resistance to pullout from the bollards.

    Abstract: A gate assembly is formed from a gate attached by hinges to a jamb. A pair of L-shaped brackets are attached to the outer sides of the jamb. The brackets are in turn attached to a pair of gate posts in a barrier. Bolt holes formed in the header section of the jamb receive removable eye bolts that may be used as hoisting points as the jamb is being positioned within a barrier. To maintain the shape of the jamb during such positioning, a removable sill section is included in the base of the jamb. The first upright section of the jamb defines an unobstructed internal channel bounded by input and output portals. A cable may pass though the channel and into the gate by way of the output portal. Window openings in the gate may be fitted with removable window panels containing pickets and infill material. Dual gates may be positioned within an enlarged jamb, and a removable mullion post positioned between the gates and supported by the jamb.

    Abstract: Structural components of a barrier, including posts, rails and pickets, are formed from a conductive substrate that is encased in a corrosion-resistant nonconductive coating. These structural components are assembled by aligning fastener openings in a pair of components, and joining the paired components with a conductive bolt. The shank of the bolt has an enlarged section of peripheral longitudinal ridges that forms an interference fit within each of the aligned fastener openings. Forming this interference fit abrades away the nonconductive coating within the openings, and allows the shank to form a conductive link between the joined structural components.
