Abstract: An integrated adhesive sensor array includes an adhesive a patch, a sensor hub, and a detachable sensor pod packaged as a unit. The patch may include a docking area for the detachable sensor pod. The detachable sensor pod may include at least one sensor and may be configured to be detached from the patch and applied to various locations on a body. The detachable sensor pod may send sensor data to the sensor hub via a wired link when on the patch and via a wireless link when detached from the patch. The sensor hub receives sensor data from the various sensors, and relays the data to a receiver. The sensor hub and detachable sensor pod may include indicators for communicating information. The sensor hub may include a power source for powering the sensor hub and a detachable sensor pod attached to the main sensor unit or patch.

Abstract: Various embodiments include methods and devices for measuring blood pressure. Various embodiments may include receiving, from one or more arterial measurement sensors, a pulse waveform representing arterial pressure as a function of time for each pulse of a series of blood pressure pulses. The series of blood pressure pulses may be correlated to arterial distension at a measurement location of the arterial measurement sensors on a subject's body. One or more elevations of the measurement location may be received from one or more elevation sensors. At least one pulse in the series of pulses may be identified that represents a transitional pulse based on one or more characteristics of the at least one pulse. A diastolic blood pressure may be determined based on the at least one identified transitional pulse and elevation measurements that correspond to the one identified pulse.

Abstract: A method for creating alarm signals based on time-series signal behavior determined from real-time discrete data obtained from a medical device. In one embodiment the method includes identifying patterns in preceding time-series measurement threshold breaches in clinical readings obtained from said medical device when associated with a particular patient, and initiating an alarm signal to a front-line clinician based on the preceding quantity of threshold breaches.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices and methods for detecting activation of an electronic device, including a biomedical and biometric device. The electronic device can operate in a low-power mode until it is determined that the electronic device is in close proximity to or in contact with a body, and activated. The electronic device can include a first sensor including a first capacitance sensor, a second sensor, and a controller coupled to the first sensor and the second sensor. The controller can receive a first signal from the first sensor and determine that the electronic device is in close proximity to or in contact with a body based on the first signal, and receive a second signal from the second sensor and determine that the electronic device is activated based on one or both of the first signal and the second signal. The electronic device can transition from the low-power mode to an active mode in response to determining that the electronic device is activated.

Abstract: Techniques provided herein are directed toward accurately determining when an item is removed from a blister pack by utilizing capacitive sensors. The capacitive sensors may be positioned on each blister of the blister and may detect the presence of the skin of the finger and/or the whether the blister has been deformed, which can occur when an item is removed from the blister. Some embodiments may determine whether skin was detected at the time of extraction to determine whether extraction was intentional.

Abstract: Systems and methods select accelerometer data to store on computer-readable media. Systems may comprise an accelerometer, a processor, and a computer-readable medium storing instructions executed by the processor. Accelerometer data from a critical time period are stored on a computer readable medium if an activity ratio for the critical time period exceeds an activity threshold. The numerator of the activity ratio comprises a count of data windows in the critical time period that satisfy one or more count criteria and the denominator comprises the total number of data windows in the critical time period.

Abstract: Disclosed are electronic devices for detecting contact or close proximity to an object to be detected. An electronic device includes a capacitive sensor enclosed by a housing and a controller coupled to the capacitive sensor, where the controller is configured to detect contact or close proximity to an object to be detected, and where the capacitive sensor includes a capacitor with a sensor electrode. The sensor electrode is separated from an outer surface of the housing by the housing. At least a portion of the housing includes a partially conductive material and the sensor electrode is in conductive contact with the partially conductive material, or the sensor electrode is in conductive contact with an electrically conductive element on an inner surface of the housing or at least partially embedded in the housing.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices of the various embodiments provide a pulse oximeter capable of taking blood oxygen readings based on readings from an accelerometer. The various embodiments may provide an electronic patch including a pulse oximeter and accelerometer connected to a processor, wherein the processor is configured with processor executable instructions to control the operation of the pulse oximeter based at least in part on data received from the accelerometer. In various embodiments the electronic patch may further include a coin cell battery, or other low power source, that may power the pulse oximeter.

Abstract: Described herein are subcutaneous medication delivery applicators and adhesive patches with one or more openings in the patches that designate one or more desired injection sites for subcutaneous injection of a medication. The medication delivery applicator and the adhesive patch may both include circuitry and wireless short-range communications interfaces that allow for the two devices to communicate with one another in order to determine if they are pre-associated in some manner, such as would be the case if both devices were packaged in the same injection kit. The medication delivery applicator may have some form of safety interlock that is only disengaged by the circuitry upon verifying that the two devices are pre-associated in some manner. Various other implementations are described as well.
