摘要: A system, method, and apparatus for treating a foot using a medical shoe and interchangeable insoles. A plurality of interchangeable insoles is provided, including a surgical insole and a wound care insole. The surgical insole provides rigidity for a patient's foot. The surgical insole comprises a first upper layer and a rigid second lower layer. The wound care insole offloads weight from a wound region on the foot. The wound care insole comprises a first upper layer of stretchy, thin film, a second, middle, layer that is moldable, and a third, lower layer that is spongy and provides support.

摘要: A medical shoe for use in supporting a patient's foot and a method of using same, the medical shoe comprising an out sole, an upper assembly secured to and partially surrounded by the out sole and an insole assembly substantially enclosed by the outsole and the upper assembly. The outsole having a base portion generally corresponding with the plantar aspect of a human foot and of varying thickness and having a substantially rectangular opening in a top surface of the base portion thereof adapted for accommodating a metatarsal shank. The out sole having a circumferential counter portion extending upward circumferentially from the top surface of the base portion thereof around the base portion of the outsole thereby providing a cavity in the outsole. The upper assembly adapted to surround at least the heel, sides and dorsal portions of the human foot. The upper assembly attached to the top surface of the base portion of the outsole and the circumferential counter of the outsole, and extending in a dorsal direction from the top surface of the base portion of the outsole along the circumferential counter. The insole assembly having a plurality of insole layers disposed in the outsole cavity and surrounded by the upper assembly and the outsole circumferential counter. The plurality of insole layers provided to include a first insole layer, a second insole layer a third insole layer and a fourth insole layer wherein the first and second layers are an Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) material and the second layer has a durometer less than the first layer, the third layer is a Poron material with a durometer less than the second layer, and the fourth layer is an EVA material with a durometer less than the third layer, and the first, second, third, and fourth layers may be assembled in any order as determined by a health care provider.

摘要: An adjustable height shoe for leg lengthening procedures to correct for leg length discrepancy has a removable outer sole which is coupled to a midsole of a shoe upper with a number of unequal, graduated thickness interlocking connecting filler soles interposed therebetween. A removable heel pad provides a heel lift of one-half of the thickness of the thinnest filler sole. Gradual reduction in the vertical height of the stack of filler soles and the outer sole in conjunction with inclusion or exclusion of the heel pad is correlated to the increase in leg length of the wearer. Opposing, abutting faces of filler soles or of filler soles with the outer sole and midsole are interlocked by correspondingly sized, configured height projections and recesses such as circular pegs and circular holes for the abutting members. Straps passing through aligned vertical slots within the outer sole and the midsole maintain the filler soles as part of a stacked assembly.

摘要: A wedge undersole of triangular shaped configuration as viewed from a side thereof is integrated to a mid-sole of a sole assembly formed of an impact-absorbing material and having a thickness which varies over the length of the shoe, having flat top and bottom surfaces, and having its greatest thickness at the heel of the shoe and tapering in the direction of the open toe region formed by a upper assembly secured to the sole assembly. The upper assembly is adapted to surround the heel sides and dorsal portion of the foot. Preferably, the upper assembly has a heel region extending upwardly from the sole assembly and forward portions divided into left and right flaps adapted to cover the dorsal region of the foot and strap interconnecting outer face portions of the left an right flaps. The wedge undersole ensures that the top surface of the mid-sole extends upwardly and forwardly in the direction of the open toe region of the shoe with the front surface of the wedge undersole terminating proximate to the metatarsal heads of the foot. The weight of and pressure on the forefoot is fully relieved while the portion of the mid-sole from the terminating of the wedge undersole proximate to the metatarsal heads acts to fully support the forefoot at an upwardly oblique angle. That portion of the mid-sole also underlies the forefoot to completely protect the forefoot from impact along both sides thereof at the open toe region of the shoe, and at the front of the mid-sole.

摘要: A splinting device includes a first part for contacting a lower leg and a second part for contacting a foot hingedly connected to the first part. An adjustable attachment includes an elastic part and interconnects the first part and the second part. A method of treating plantar fasciitis includes securing the first part of the splint device to the lower leg, and securing the second part to a foot. The first part is rotated relative to the second part to establish a predetermined angle between the first part and the second part. The elastic part of the adjustable attachment, which is attached to one of the first and second parts, is stretched and attached to the other of the first part of the second part at a position based on the predetermined angle to limit movement of the first part relative to the second part beyond the predetermined angle.
