    摘要: A protective helmet adapted to receive and protect a head of a wearer comprises: an outer shell shaped to protect the head of the wearer, with the outer shell defining a bottom opening and an internal cavity for receiving the head of the wearer; a headband and a suspension positioned within the internal cavity of the outer shell; and a visor rotatable between a retracted position within the outer shell to an extended position in front of a face of the wearer, wherein the visor simultaneously rotates about a first pivot axis and a second pivot axis as it moves between the retracted position and the extended position. The visor can also be readily removed from the protective helmet and easily replaced should it become damaged.

    摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for operating powered air-purifying respirators safely in explosive atmospheres. The apparatus and method utilize a current control means for sensing a current flow from a battery to a motor, and stopping the current flow when the current flow exceeds a threshold value for a predetermined amount of time. Upon sensing that the current flow has exceeded the threshold value for the predetermined amount of time, the current control means immediately stops the current flow. The apparatus and method provides sufficient power to properly start and operate the motor by providing a soft start to the motor by limiting the duration of higher than threshold operating current to intervals shorter than the predetermined amount of time. Pulse width modulation is used to ramp-up the motor to speed by supplying pulses of energy to the motor that will not cause the current control means to stop the current flow.

    摘要: The present invention is a method for operating a thermal imaging camera for selective temperature imaging, and a thermal imaging system having a selective temperature imaging mode. When first entering the selective temperature imaging mode of operation, the system and method automatically determine the hottest area in a scene and display it in a predetermined hue. The remainder of the scene is displayed in grayscale. The method and system allow further adjustment of the set point of the selective temperature imaging mode, and display portions of the scene as hot as or hotter than the set point value in gradient shades of the predetermined hue.

    摘要: An adapter for mounting equipment (4) such as lamps and headsets onto protective helmets includes a base (1) fastened detachably onto the protective helmet, and a holder (2) with variable securing parts (3) that snaps detachably into the base (1). The base (1) features a snap-and-detent mechanism (1.1), has an external shape adapted to the type of protective helmet and is fastened detachably onto the protective helmet. The holder (2) features a snap-and-detent element (2.5) designed as corresponding counter piece to the snap-and-detent mechanism (1.1) of the base (1). The variable securing parts (3) are flat silicone straps where at least two securing parts (3) can be threaded into the holder (2), an insertable piece of equipment (4) can be fastened separately, flexibly and detachably by wrapping the two securing parts (3) around the equipment (4) and anchoring them onto the holder (2), and the snap-and-detent element (2.5) of the equipped holder (2) snaps into the snap-and-detent mechanism (1.1) of the base (1) and, when in the base (1), is incrementally rotatable and detainable around the axis of the snap-and-detent element (2.5).

    摘要: A brow pad for the headband of a protective helmet or similar headgear is ultrasonically welded or similarly joined to itself through openings defined through the headband. By joining the brow pad to itself through the headband, the brow pad remains secured to the headband even after extensive usage. Furthermore, the openings defined through the headband provide some measure of ventilation and evacuation of accumulated moisture from the brow pad. Finally, by joining the brow pad to itself and through the headband, there are pockets of air that are trapped between the joined portions of the brow pad, which serve as air-filled “pillows,” providing some measure of comfort to the wearer.

    摘要: A protective helmet adapted to receive and protect the head of a wearer includes an outer shell and an attachment ring removably secured to the outer shell, such that the attachment ring can be selectively attached to or detached and removed from the outer shell. The outer shell is shaped to protect the head of the wearer of the protective helmet and defines a bottom opening and an internal cavity for receiving the head of the wearer. The attachment ring acts as a point of attachment for, and thus secures, one or more components of the protective helmet configured to engage the head of the wearer, such that the components secured to the attachment ring are transported with the attachment ring when the attachment ring is detached and removed from the outer shell.
