Abstract: A 3D segmentation editing system accurately updates the segmentations of non-edited images of a 3D scan to reflect segmentation edits applied to other images of the scan using localized interpolation. In one or more embodiments, rather than replacing the entireties of the initial segmentations of non-edited images with newly generated, globally interpolated segmentations, the segmentation editing system applies a distance-based criterion to the interpolation of segmentation edits, such that only portions of the segmentations of the non-edited images that correspond to areas that were manually annotated in the edited images will be modified by the interpolation process, and the initial segmentations will be maintained outside of those edited areas. In this way, the system merges the interpolated segmentation with the initial segmentation for each non-edited image in a manner that mitigates unreliable modifications to the initial segmentations in areas far from the edited areas.

Abstract: Techniques are described for maintaining patient privacy in association with obtaining patient data for machine learning applications. In an example, a method can comprise accessing, by a system comprising a processor, a training dataset associated with a machine learning model, the training dataset comprising of data samples respectively comprising unique characteristics of subjects. The method further comprises determining, by the system, characteristic curve information that correlates different data portions extracted from the data samples to respective probabilities of matching the different data portions to respective ones of the data samples from which they are extracted. The method further comprises controlling, by the system, collection of new data portions extracted from new data samples corresponding to the data samples based on the new data portions conforming to criteria that defines a target data portion, wherein the criteria comprise a probability of the respective probabilities that satisfies an anonymity criterion.

The dual energy subtraction image processing system includes a processor configured to operate a radiation source of a fluoroscopy imaging system in a pulsed manner to obtain a number of high energy (HE) frames, to form an HE image from the number of HE frames, to operate the radiation source of the fluoroscopy imaging system in a continuous manner to obtain a number of low energy (LE) frames, to form an LE image from the LE frames, and to employ the HE image and the LE image in a dual energy subtraction imaging process to output a number of enhanced contrast images. The processor is also configured to operate the detector in continuous manner to obtain the HE frames and the LE frames.

Abstract: An image processing system is provided. The image processing system includes a display, a processor, and a memory. The memory stores processor-executable code that when executed by the processor causes receiving an image of a region of interest of a patient with an enteric tube or line disposed within the region of interest, detecting the medical tube or line within the image, generating a combined image by superimposing graphical markers on the image that indicate placement or misplacement of the enteric tube or line, and displaying the combined image on a display. In further aspects, a classification of the enteric tube or line (e.g., correctly placed tube present, malpositioned tube present, and so forth) may be determined and communicated to one or more clinicians. Additionally, the outputs of the image processing system may also be provided to facilitate triage of patients, helping prioritize which tube placements require further attention and in what order.

Abstract: A system and method for improving image quality of periodically rotated overlapping parallel lines with enhanced reconstruction (PROPELLER) imaging include acquiring a plurality of blades of k-space data of a region of interest in a rotational manner around a center of k-space via a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner from a coil during a PROPELLER sequence, wherein each blade of the plurality of blades of k-space data includes a plurality of parallel phase encoding lines sampled in a phase encoding order. The system and method also include utilizing a deep learning-based denoising network to denoise each blade of the plurality of blades of k-space data to generate a plurality of denoised blades. The system and method further include utilizing a PROPELLER reconstruction algorithm to generate a complex image from the plurality of denoised blades.

Abstract: A method for analyzing uncertainty in a multi-scale interpretation of a medical image includes inputting the medical image into a trained segmentation network. The method includes outputting via the trained segmentation network a segmentation output mask for each pixel of the medical image or a region of interest of the medical image. The method includes utilizing a deterministic function to aggregate segmentation output masks for all pixels of the medical image or the region of interest and to output a first classification prediction of the aggregated segmentation output masks. The method includes inputting the medical image into a trained classification network. The method includes outputting a second classification prediction of the medical image or the region of interest. The method includes determining an uncertainty between the first classification prediction and the second classification prediction via comparison of the first classification prediction to the second classification prediction.

Abstract: The subject matter of the present disclosure generally relates to techniques for neuromodulation that include applying energy (e.g., ultrasound energy) into an internal tissue to cause tissue displacement and identifying that the tissue displacement has occurred. In one embodiment, the presence of tissue displacement is associated with a desired therapeutic or physiological outcome, such as a change in a molecule of interest.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for increasing a quality of images generated by a computed tomography (CT) system. In one example, an initial assessment of contrast timing and flow through different anatomical regions of a patient is performed, and based on the initial assessment, different visualization schemes are applied to the different anatomical regions of a reconstructed image, where each visualization is optimized for assessing a different anatomical region. The visualizations may increase a contrast between diseased tissues and non-diseased tissues of the different anatomical regions, and may include color maps (e.g., heat maps and/or probability maps) and/or color overlays based on spectral decomposition information. The different visualizations may be combined into a single 2D image, where each anatomical region (e.g., organ, bone, etc.) is displayed in high contrast, and where aspects of various anatomical regions may be highlighted or colorized to visualize specific information.
