Abstract:
A closure device (210) for dispensing an additive product into a container (34) having a main liquid compartment and an opening with a threaded container neck (38) comprises a cap member (36) having a threaded side wall (37) adapted to be secured to the threaded container neck (38), a pressurised fluid chamber (60) fixed to the cap member (36) containing an additive product, and a plug member housing (54) including a plug member (64) engageable in a bottom aperture (66) of the fluid chamber and a flange portion (58) adapted to extend across the top of the container neck (38). The plug member housing (54) can move relative to the cap member (36) between a first closed or armed position of the closure device, in which the plug member (64) seals the bottom aperture (66) closed, and in which a first detent member (58A) provided on the plug member housing is engaged by a second detent member (80) provided on the cap member to prevent movement of the plug member housing (54) away from the cap member (36), and a second open or firing position, in which the plug member housing (54) is urged towards the cap member (36) by contact with the threaded container neck (38) and the plug member (64) is raised relative to the bottom aperture (66) to provide a fluid path from the fluid chamber (60) through a nozzle (74) to the main liquid compartment of the container (34), so that the closure device (210) is moved to the firing position by screwing down onto the neck (38).
Abstract:
A closure device for firing an additive into a carbonated beverage bottle with a neck comprises a cap member and a housing. The cap member includes a pressurised tank containing the additive and a propellant and has a bottom aperture. The housing engages with the neck and includes a plug member which engages with the bottom aperture. The cap member can be lifted relative to the housing from a first armed or closed position in which the plug member closes the bottom aperture to a second firing position in which the plug member provides a communication path from the tank through a nozzle in the plug member.

The plug member (264) has a nozzle (274) therein, and the housing (254) is adapted to move relative to the cap member (236) between a first closed position of the closure device before securing to the neck of the bottle, in which the plug member (264) seals the bottom aperture (266) closed and the housing or cap member is engaged by a detent member (204) provided to prevent movement of the housing away from the cap member, and a second armed position in which the closure device is secured to the neck of the bottle, and in which the plug member (264) continues to seal the bottom aperture (266) closed and the flange member (258) or detent member (204) is deformed to a position in which the housing can no longer be engaged by the detent member (204). An internal rib (206) on the housing may engage with the detent member to prevent movement of the housing away from the cap member in the first closed position of the closure device. The detent member (204) may be deformable such that in the second armed position of the closure device the detent member is deformed to a position in which the internal rib can no longer be engaged by the detent member, to permit the closure device to move to a third firing position when the closure device is removed from the neck.

Abstract:
A closure device with a fluid chamber containing an additive. The additive can be introduced and mixed into a liquid on the container by the closure device. The closure device includes a cap member having a fluid chamber and a housing having a plug member. The cap member is provided with a primary engagement member which engages with a corresponding primary engagement member provided on the housing to allow the cap member to be lifted relative to the housing from a closed position in which the plug member closes an aperture in the fluid chamber to an open position in which the plug member is at least partially withdrawn from the aperture, thereby allowing the additive to pass from the fluid chamber to the liquid in the bottle. The closure device enables mixing of the additive and liquid in the bottle without opening the closure.
Abstract:
A closure assembly for a container comprising a pressurised tank and a plug member, the pressurised tank has an interior volume and a cylindrical wall including an annular boss member at its open end. The plug member has an annular channel arranged at a first side of the plug member adapted to sealingly engage with the boss member. The channel has at least one orifice extending from the floor or outer side wall of the channel to a nozzle at the second side of the plug member. The orifice is sealed from the interior volume of the tank when the channel is sealingly engaged with the boss member in a first position, but is in fluid communication with the interior volume of the tank when at least part of the channel is no longer engaged with the boss member in a second position.
