Abstract: A host device acting as a wireless hotspot can suffer poor network performance when many client devices are connected simultaneously, particularly devices with a poor connection speed. To improve network performance, the host device can identify a client device with the worst network connectivity based on wireless signal strength, a peer-to-peer (P2P) packet drop rate, and a P2P ping response time, and instruct the client device to scan the other client devices to identify the best candidate to serve as a new host device for the client device. The hotspot functionality can then be offloaded to the new host device with respect to the client device, thereby reducing the number of client devices connected directly to the main host device and improving the network performance of the client device.

Abstract: Examples herein involve amplification and detection of nucleic acids using a microfluidic reaction chamber. An example apparatus includes a reaction-chamber circuit to process a reagent and a biologic sample for amplification of nucleic acids. The apparatus further includes a plurality of capillaries to pass the reagent and the biologic sample through the microfluidic reaction chamber. A valve control system may selectively control each of a plurality of valves to cause the reagent and the biologic sample to selectively move through the microfluidic reaction chamber for the amplification of the nucleic acids according to a particular timing sequence. In various examples, a trapping region disposed in the microfluidic reaction chamber secures the nucleic acids in the microfluidic reaction chamber for amplification using the reaction-chamber circuit.
