Some examples provide a Search Snapshot Management Engine (“SSME”), which enables users and or programs through the use of an application programming interface (“API”) to define and manipulate search result snapshots. In typical operation, an iteration of a search result is associated with a search result snapshot history. In some examples, the SSME may be used to provide search histories to teams for reviewing patent related publications and other types of literature. In some examples, the SSME promotes cooperative sharing of search result snapshot histories. In other examples, the SSME promotes competitive sharing of search result snapshot histories. One or more designated snapshots may be used to create new or merged search result snapshot histories.

In other examples, the tool assigns search-based profiling information. The profiling tool using citation based patent related search techniques to suggest additional keywords and/or patent publications for augmenting the user's search-based profile information. In some examples, the IP Invention Management System (IPIMS) uses these profiles to distribute workload, for example, to route patent assets to be reviewed or be improved upon as ripe for invention. In addition, other applications may use these profiles to offer other types of matching services, such as social mapping.

摘要： A facility for facilitating processes for acquiring intellectual property assets (“assets”) is described. In some embodiments, the facility enables an organization operating the facility to generate a budget for a proposed acquisition of assets. The organization may include multiple entities that are together interested in acquiring the assets. The entities may each provide values for the assets, either by applying rules that automatically attribute values to the assets, by having human analysts manually analyze the assets to estimate their values, or by some combination of these two techniques. The facility generates the budget based on the values determined for the assets. A person or team of people responsible for the proposed acquisition of assets can use the budget in negotiations to acquire the assets. If the assets are acquired, the facility can allocate acquisition and post-acquisition expenses among the entities on whose behalf the assets were acquired.
