Abstract:
A dispensing package includes a container having a neck finish with an axis, a non-circular cross section in a plane perpendicular to the axis, and at least one circumferentially extending external engagement element on the neck finish. A closure has a wall received over the container neck finish. The wall has a non-circular cross section corresponding to the non-circular cross section of the neck finish and at least one internal circumferentially extending engagement element in engagement with the external engagement element on the neck finish. The internal and/or external circumferentially extending engagement element has a shallow lead-in angle to enable press-fit of the closure onto the container neck finish and a steep back angle to retard removal of the closure from the neck finish. Rotation of the closure on the neck finish is prevented by the non-circular cross sections of the neck finish and the closure wall.
Abstract:
A bi-injected closure is provided which includes a gripping area molded on the exterior of the closure through a bi-injection technique. As a result of the closure having a high frictional material positioned on the exterior of the closure, the slide area acts to allow the closure to move freely and unrestricted in material handling machinery without the gripping material restricting movement of the closure.

A plastic container for a child-resistant package, including a sidewall with an outer surface, a deflectable release cantilevered from the outer surface and deflectable toward the outer surface, and deflection limiting elements carried by the deflectable release to limit deflection of the release. The deflection limiting elements include laterally spaced lugs transversely extending toward the sidewall outer surface from the deflectable release and having portions normally spaced from the sidewall outer surface, such that deflection of the release brings the portions of the lugs into abutment with the sidewall outer surface.
Abstract:
An injection blow molding apparatus has a rotatable turret with three laterally facing faces. The turret is rotatable between an injection position, a blow position and an ejection position that are angularly spaced from each other around an axis of rotation of the turret. A mold core holder is mounted on each face of the turret. Each core holder has a track, a wing pivotally mounted on each end of the track for movement between folded positions overlying the track at the injection position, and unfolded positions extending from the ends of the track at the blow and ejection positions. Mold cores are mounted on each track at a reduced spacing. The spacing can be increased by moving the wings to the extended positions and spreading out the mold cores on the track and the two wings.

A package includes a container having a neck finish, and a closure having a plastic shell with a skirt externally secured to the container neck finish. A seal disk includes a metal layer on a plastic substrate. The periphery of the plastic substrate is sealingly secured to the neck finish of the container. The metal layer includes a circumferentially continuous outer periphery overlying the periphery of the plastic substrate and an inner portion structured as an rf antenna. An RFID tag is electrically connected at least to the inner portion of the metal layer. A liner disk may be disposed between the closure and the seal disk separate from the seal disk. The closure skirt may have an internal bead to engage the periphery of the liner disk and lift the liner disk off of the neck finish upon removal of the closure from the container neck finish.

A child-resistant package includes a rectangular tray having a pair of sidewalls, a pair of laterally opposed spring arms extending from the sidewalls, a finger tab on each spring arm and a locking lug adjacent to each finger tab. A rectangular shell has an open front end, a pair of sidewalls, a slot extending longitudinally along each of the sidewalls and terminating short of the open front end of the shell, and a locking pocket extending from each slot at a position spaced from the open end of the shell. The tray is slidably received in the shell with the spring arms interiorly adjacent to the shell sidewalls and the finger tabs slidably received in the slots. The locking lugs on the finger tabs are resiliently receivable in the locking pockets on the shell sidewalls in the closed position of the tray within the shell. The finger tabs may be pushed toward each other against resiliency of the spring arms to release the locking lugs from the locking pockets, and then slid forwardly along the slots until the finger tabs engage the ends of the slots adjacent to the open end of the shell to retain the tray within the shell in an open position of the tray extending from the open end of the shell. The tray preferably includes an integrally hinged lid that is closed when the tray is disposed within the shell.

A closure having a stopping mechanism whereby a stop lug is positionable between a flexed and unflexed position relative to a spring gap. The stop lug may project from a skirt of the closure top wall. The spring gap is positioned adjacent the stop lug to provide an area for the stop lug to travel when outside forces are applied to the stop lug and subsequently return back to the unflexed position. The stop lug may have a substantially vertical support rib in combination with a plurality of annularly spaced ribs.

A plastic container has an open end and an imperforate container wall with a base, an outwardly open pocket in the container wall, and an insert disposed in the pocket. The insert preferably is captured in the pocket by blow molding the container wall around the insert. The pocket and insert preferably are disposed in the base of the container opposite the open end of the container, most preferably centrally of the base, and the insert preferably is visible in the container base through an external opening into the pocket.

A child-resistant package includes first and second elements having base walls with rectangular peripheries, continuous peripheral walls extending around the peripheries, locking projections or tabs on opposed sections of the peripheral walls, and cylindrical walls extending from the base walls within the peripheral walls and having thread segments. The second element is threadable onto the first element to bring the peripheral walls into aligned abutment and the locking tabs into engagement with the locking projections to resist unthreading of the elements. The peripheral wall of the second element is inwardly flexible and resilient adjacent to the locking tabs to permit manual movement of the locking tabs inward from the locking projections so that the elements can be unthreaded from each other.

A tamper-indicating closure includes a closure shell having a skirt for securing the closure to a container neck finish and a tamper band frangibly coupled to the skirt for separation from the skirt upon first removal of the closure from the container. An RFID circuit, including an RFID tag and an antenna, is carried by the tamper band for separation from the skirt with the tamper band and remaining operational on the container after the closure has been removed from the container. The RFID circuit preferably is carried by a stop flange that extends from the tamper band, and is disposed between the stop flange and the tamper band.
