    Abstract: A syringe instrument for particular use in medical balloon inflation procedures comprises a fluid chamber and a plunger arranged to displace fluid from the chamber for delivery to inflate the balloon, and incorporates control structure arranged to provide a series of releasible space limits for respective displacements of the plunger within the chamber. The control structure allows the fluid in the chamber to be pressurized at selective predetermined pressure levels governed by the releasable limits for the plunger displacements. A reverse drive structure is provided for reverse-displacement of the plunger from the fluid chamber to enable self-aspiration of fluid into the chamber from the balloon in order to simplify balloon deflation and removal from the patient. The reverse drive structure is manually activated with the same hand which depresses the plunger, for single handed operation of both the forward and reverse plunger motions. A second fluid displacement structure separate from the plunger, is reversibly displaceable into and from the chamber in order to enable charging aspiration of the pressure fluid into the chamber. A pressure balance mechanism is provided cooperating to allow the plunger to self-adjust in order to maintain the proper predetermined balloon pressure as the dilating duct induces increase in the balloon volume.

    Abstract: A tissue sampling instrument for aspirating sample tissue into a needle structure includes a suction chamber having first and second moveable chamber walls arranged to enlarge the volume of the chamber and reduce the pressure therein by movement of at least one of the first and second chamber walls. The needle structure has a lumen arranged in flow communication with the suction chamber to enable communication of the reduced pressure to the lumen in order to promote aspiration of sample tissue into a separate tissue entry aperture formed into the lumen. In one embodiment, the two moveable chamber walls are defined by a displaceable cylinder structure and piston structure moveable within the cylinder structure. The moveable cylinder and piston are formed within a separate housing. The suction action within the chamber is generated by a triggered advancement of the cylinder and cannula secured thereon relative to the piston and stylet so that the suction action is communicated to aspirate sample tissue into the cannula severed by the cutting advancement of the cannula carried on the cylinder. A variable stroke length of the cannula advancement is provided by a multiply-dimensioned stop structure.

    Abstract: A liquid dispensing nozzle assembly is provided for mounting on a liquid container and dispenser having a flexible wall and liquid storage cavity for manually squeezed dispensing of a liquid from the cavity through the nozzle assembly. The nozzle assembly maintains the liquid, such as contact lens saline solution, in sterile condition during storage and repeated dispensing of the liquid from the container cavity. The nozzle assembly includes a liquid conduit for communication from the container cavity to a liquid discharge port from the nozzle assembly to enable dispensing of the liquid displaced by manually squeezing the flexible wall of the container. The nozzle assembly also includes an air aspiration conduit separate from the liquid conduit for aspirating air into the container cavity to replace the dispensed liquid. The nozzle assembly includes a partitioned diaphragm including separate portions respectively included in the liquid conduit and the air aspiration conduit. The air conduit portion of the diaphragm can include a filter which is hydrophobic and air permeable but impermeable to bacteria to prevent entrainment of bacteria with the aspirating flow of air into the liquid storage cavity of the container.

    Abstract: A tissue sampling instrument or device for use with a two-part needle assembly having an outer cannula and an inner stylet, includes first and second carriage structures for displacing the respective stylet and cannula. The instrument also includes a drive carriage structure which provides separate and sequential engagement and displacement of the two needle carriage structures during operation of the instrument. The drive carriage structure first engages and displaces the stylet carriage, and thereafter engages and displaces the cannula carriage in order to produce sequential motions of the stylet and cannula in the operation to capture the tissue sample. The drive carriage structure also includes means for releasing the engagement of the stylet carriage at the termination of its driven displacement prior to the sequentially successive engagement of the cannula carriage structure.     Abstract: A headlamp aiming apparatus is provided for attachment to an automotive headlamp assembly comprising a support member which is rigidly mountable to an automotive vehicle, a reflector which is mounted to the support member for pivotal motion about at least one of a horizontal axis and a vertical axis for aiming of the headlamp beam, and a headlamp adjusting assembly operatively coupled with the support member for aiming of the headlamp beam.
