Abstract:
A high flow valve for use in conjunction with a compressed gas, an aerosol or in bag-on-valve applications, and particularly to a valve having a housing that is supported by a mounting cup for a product container or can, and communicates with a product or product containment bag inside the can. A radial opening or orifice of the valve is positioned closer to a lower seal of the valve stem, rather than an upper seal or mounting cup gasket, to facilitate an increased flow rate for dispensing the product from the container and the valve.
Abstract:
An improved mounting cup and valve assembly combination for an aerosol container. The combination comprises a mounting cup which has a pedestal portion and a perimeter curl, a valve stem which has a product outlet and at least one radial orifice formed therein which communicates with the product outlet, an open ended valve body defining an interior chamber, the valve body has a dip tube coupling adjacent a partially closed base thereof, and the dip tube coupling facilitates conveying product to be dispensed into the interior chamber of the valve body, and a gasket is sandwiched between the mounting cup and the valve body. The base of the valve body forms a first seat while a surface of the valve stem, facing toward the dip tube coupling, forms a second seat. A rubber compressible member is captively retained between the first and the second seats.
Abstract:
A metering valve having a contiguous double wall structure including an inner wall defining the metering chamber and an outer wall which defines a crimping and support wall against which the inner rim of the mounting cup of the container can be crimped. The outer wall may be maintained at the same diameter and thickness for use with generally any mounting cup which are approximately an inch in diameter as well as any mounting process and machinery. The inner wall may however be sized differently in order to accommodate different dosages for metering of product. A radial space between the inner and outer wall permits the both the axial elongation of the metering chamber as well as a radial expansion of the inner wall and hence the valve chamber relative to the outer wall due to the space between the inner and outer wall.
Abstract:
A continuous dispensing actuator assembly having a mounting cup, an actuator, an overcap and a locking adaptor provides for automatic discharge of the contents of a pressurized container. The mounting cup secures to an open end of the pressurized container and has a valve biased into a normally extended closed position with an extending valve stem. The overcap includes a base portion affixed to the mounting cup, an orientation tab slidably residing within the slot in the actuator to prevent rotational movement of the actuator, a locking mechanism and a slot in the locking mechanism sized to allow passage of the actuator cam post.
Abstract:
An actuator for facilitating filling of an aerosol contain by a button-on-filling process, the actuator comprising an exterior housing having an outer wall with a product discharge outlet formed therein. The exterior housing further having central post supporting an internal bore which establishes fluid communication between a product inlet and the product discharge outlet to facilitate dispensing an aerosol product via the actuator. At least two spaced apart reinforcement ribs are provided for interconnecting the exterior housing with the central post and thereby define at least two compartments where any remaining filling component may collect. A base of the exterior housing has an annular skirt portion which facilitates sealing engagement with a pedestal portion of a mounting cup during a filling operation. A longitudinal passageway communicates with each formed compartment, of the actuator, to facilitate complete purging of any remaining filling component, during a purging step of the button-on-filling process, from each formed compartment to essentially prevent the discharge of any remaining filling component into a surrounding production facility environment.
Abstract:
Mushroom-shaped actuator has depending latch of sufficient flexibility so that the actuator may be pressed to cause the latch to engage the edge of the aerosol valve mounting cup lip and hold the valve "on". Conversely, by finger pressure on the opposite side of the actuator, the latch may be disengaged from the edge permitting the valve to return to the non-dispensing condition.
Abstract:
A dual component insert for use with a spray actuator for dispensing a pressurized product. The dual component insert comprises a support insert and an insert disk. The support insert includes a base wall which has a support discharge orifice formed therein and a cylindrical wall is formed integral with and extends from the base wall so as to define an insert cavity. The insert disk has a disk discharge orifice, a diameter of the disk discharge orifice is smaller than a diameter of the support discharge orifice, and the insert disk is received and captively retained within the insert cavity so that the disk discharge orifice is axially aligned with the support discharge orifice. The insert disk is manufactured from a relatively thin durable material which facilitates fabrication of a consistent, accurate, uniform and well defined small diameter discharge orifice which results in dispensing a fine mist spray.
Abstract:
A dispensing valve comprising a metering valve for a pressurized aerosol application. The dispensing valve comprises a mounting cup, a gasket, a valve body and a valve housing defining a cavity. The valve housing is captively retained by the mounting cup and a spring biasing the valve body against the gasket into a normally closed position. A lower portion of the valve housing communicating with the product to be dispensed. A valve stem is coupled to the valve body and an actuator is supported by the valve stem. The metering valve is delimited by a metering valve seat and a stop. A metering member is movable, within the metering chamber, to dispense a predetermined quantity of product. The metering valve seat comprising at least one micro vent which facilitates supplying air to the metering valve seat to break a seal formed by surface tension of the product to be dispensed.
