    摘要： A welt shoe is pulled over and cement lasted by a technique in which the shoe bottom is supported on an expandable shoe support having a generally horseshoe-shaped periphery. The shoe is placed on the support while in its contracted configuration and the support is thereafter expanded generally, laterally to bear against the inside of the insole rib which extends downwardly from the shoe bottom. When in the contracted position, receptive to an unlasted shoe assembly, the shoe support facilitates insertion and placement of the shoe assembly in the machine. Both the method employed and a machine for effecting the method are disclosed.

    摘要： The wiping of the toe portion of the margin of an upper, mounted on a last, against the corresponding portion of an insole located on the last bottom, wherein the insole is unsecured to the last bottom. An insole is first placed on insole rests and then the last bottom is placed on the insole with the toe portions of the insole and last bottom bearing against abutments to retain them in registration. A suction cup, engaged with the heel portion of the insole, constrains the insole against movement on the insole rests during the placement of the last bottom on the insole. A pulling over mechanism pulls the upper about the last in a heel to toe direction to cause the heel portion of the upper margin, that is extending downwardly of the last, to form a cup about the heel portion of the last bottom which retains the heel portion of the insole in registration with the heel portion of the last bottom. The toe portion of the upper margin is wiped against and attached to the insole while the registrations are maintained.

    摘要： A shoe-lasting machine for wiping in a shank over a last and insole, the machine including a pivotally mounted last-carrier, shears for tucking in a heel portion, and a plurality of wiping members for an shank area of an upper leather portion which includes a plurality of wiper elements mounted on an assembly carrier adapted for forward motion towards the last. The assembly is supported rotatably about its axis which substantially coincides with a trailing edge of the heel portion shears in their operating position. Contactor levers are provided which are preferably mounted on the wiper assembly carrier and which after sensing the last impart a rotary movement to the assembly carrier which helps to adapt an inclination of the wiper elements to a predetermined shank curvature of the last. The rotatably supported assembly carrier also carries a device for stretching the leather prior to the engagement of the wiping members for the shank area, the inclination of the leather-stretching device thus being also determined by the inclination of the assembly carrier itself.
