    摘要： The applications of the arrangement of the present invention includes chairs, tables and shelves. Disclosed is a chair having a seat of adjustable height. The arrangement includes a first member or seat having a contact surface for abutting a second member or pair of uprights and means for pivoting the first member with respect to the second member, whereby pivoting first member disjoins the contact surface of the first member from the second member enabling the first member to move longitudinal position with respect to the second member.

    摘要： An adjustable pedestal comprises a tubular base, a tubular collar telescopically, slidably engaging the exterior of the base, a guide tube interior to the base, an extension spring mechanism positioned within the guide tube for biasing the pedestal in an extended position, and a locking mechanism for locking the pedestal in the desired position. The base, collar, and guide tube are coaxial. The collar is movable between an extended and a retracted position with respect to the base, and the guide tube is movable with the collar between an extended and a retracted position with respect to the base. The extension spring mechanism comprises a pair of parallel, spaced-apart extension springs, the axes of which are parallel to the axes of the base, collar, and guide tube and normally biases the collar and the guide tube in their extended positions. The extension springs are in a retracted condition. Thus, when force is exerted on the top of the guide tube, the extension springs assume an extended condition. The guide tube is provided with a longitudinally-extending locking slot, and the locking mechanism comprises a locking block and a locking screw slidable in the locking slot.

    摘要： An adjustable support column for chairs, stools, tables or other furniture items in which a support tube telescopically receives a mounting cylinder. The mounting cylinder is seated on a diamond threaded support rod in the support tube by means of one or more drive nuts and a locking nut. A clutch selectively releases the locking nut to permit longitudinal adjustment of the mounting cylinder relative to the support tube. The diamond threaded support rod is connected to a power spring which stores energy as the support rod is rotated in one direction to cause a return of the support rod to its initial position when the locking nut is released.
