摘要： A dental hygiene threading tool used to insert floss between teeth of a user who has permanent oral implants. Traditional flossing for individuals with oral implants and the methods of flossing between implants and the gum line presently available are time consuming and difficult, due to the lack of the space between the two structures. The disclosed device comprises a hollow tube used to guide a floss threading line or pull through guide into these tight spaces. The tube is then removed once the threading line has been inserted. A user feeds a strand of dental floss through the threading line loop and pulls the threading line with the dental floss through the space. Once the dental floss has been fed through the teeth, the flossing procedure may commence. The device dramatically reduces time and effort required to thread floss between teeth and oral implants.

摘要： An article of manufacture for use in dental hygiene is disclosed. The device provides a leader, to which there is attached a thicker "mop" which can be comprised of a plurality of individual string members. The string members can be abrasive to enhance cleaning action. The several string members which form the "mop" would preferably have some absorbent quality in order to retain a desired therapeutic aid such as fluoride or the like. The strings could be alternatively fluoride impregnated. In use, the leader is first passed between gaps in the teeth until the "mop" portion contacts the gap. Sliding action of the abrasive mop between the teeth removes undesirable plaque and massages the gums. In the method of the present invention, individual thread members are added to the leader so that as many strings are placed between the teeth as possible without causing discomfort and the space between the teeth can be filled.

摘要： A custom-designed oral appliance for simultaneously flossing all the user's teeth. Consists of a custom-fitted polymer mouthpiece containing two corresponding holes located at the gum line between adjacent teeth, where one hole is located on the lingual side and one hole is located on the buccal side of the apparatus. Typical floss is then threaded through the appliance such that it matches the individual user's tooth pattern. New floss can be dispensed through the appliance and spent floss collected by means of a floss distribution system. A further embodiment provides a cross flossing pattern to maximize floss contact with the inter-proximal surfaces of adjacent teeth.

摘要： An orthodontic flossing implement for facilitating positioning and manipulating of a portion of a length of dental floss into the interdental space between adjacent teeth and proximate to and beneath an orthodontic wire which defines an arch extending between adjacent orthodontic brackets on the teeth. An elongated handle dependently supports an elongated, slender shaft formed as a unit with, and extending from a proximal end of the handle. The shaft is dimensionally smaller in thickness than that of said handle and preferably oriented at an acute angle to the handle. A tip, formed as a unit with, and extending from a second end of the shaft, is oriented at an acute angle to the handle, the tip having an aperture formed therethrough sized to just receive a length of dental floss. The tip with the dental floss positioned through said aperture, is manipulable by said handle to pass beneath an arch of the orthodontic wire and to floss the interdental tissue.

摘要： A dental tool which combines a rubber tip gum massager with a floss threader that aids in positioning floss under fixed bridges. The tool is especially useful in cleaning under bridge work that is in the back of the mouth. It is common practice to employ floss with a few inches of rigid line attached to the actual floss material so that the rigid line can be pushed under the bridge work with the fingers and then pulled through to position the actual flossing material for the back and forth cleaning process. Even with the rigid line threader, however, the process is sometimes difficult for a dental professional and almost impossible for an individual because it is hard to feel when the threader is in the right position. A common rubber tip gum messenger on a handle can easily find the right spot for the threader because of the tactical feed back as the rubber tip is passed over the teeth and gums. The present invention uses a hole that passes through the handle of the rubber tip tool and on through the end of the rubber tip itself. The rigid floss threader line is inserted into the hole in the handle and pushed all the way to the end of the rubber tip, ready to be advanced under the bridge as soon as the rubber tip feels the right spot. An important feature of the tool is that the hole in the handle is positioned opposite of the direction of the rubber tip, so that the hand holding the handle is on the other side of the teeth from the hand pushing the threader.

One structural feature included on the floss is a loop, bound at the location of a first knot along a length of dental floss or tape that defines a yieldable snare for capturing food. Another structure that can be included in certain implementations is a brush, which also can be bound at the first knot, that is moveable independently of the loop and is shaped to remove debris from gumline or from between two teeth or from between two implants. Floss or tape so-constructed can be provided in a dispenser having a spindle that supports the floss, a housing that supports the spindle for rotation, an aperture shaped to permit unimpeded withdrawal of the floss and the structural features thereupon, and a cutting element.
