    摘要: The method and extractor relate to dentistry and are intended for extraction of metal instruments fragments from a root canal of the tooth, as these instruments may be broken and may get stuck here, for example, during endodontic treatment. According to the invention, two insulated metal electrodes assembled as a cylinder are inserted into the root canal until electric contact with the fragment to be extracted. Then electric current impulse is ran through the circuit formed by the first electrode, metal fragment and second electrode; the intensity and duration of the electric impulse shall be sufficient for welding of the fragment to the electrodes by means of heating at the contact points; this time a heating of the surrounding tissues remains at the physiologically acceptable level; afterwards the electrodes are extracted from the root canal together with the fragment. Depending on a clinical situation, electrodes of various size and configuration are used. Electric impulse is generated by the unit comprising a capacitor chargeable by a battery and dischargeable in pulsed mode via controlled electronic switch. The unit also has an indicator of contact resistance between the fragment and the electrodes for a better alignment of their relative positions.

One embodiment of the device includes an extraction bit having helical windings without a linear core portion separate from the windings, and in that manner is distinguishable from a common screw. The extraction bit may include a partial-spiral flute or groove formed in a tip thereof. A lockable and releaseable hand piece for attaching to the extraction bit provides leverage to the user for dislodging the tooth root, and is reversible in its attachment position to the extraction bit.

    摘要: A method of removing an endodontic instrument fragment from a root canal, and a retrieving assembly for practicing the method. A wire is formed into a loop having two free ends opposite the loop. The free ends of the wire are passed through an elongated tube so that the loop extends from one side of the tube and the free ends extend from the opposite side of the tube. The loop is bent so that it makes a positive angle with respect to the tube, and the loop and a portion of the tube are inserted into the root canal alongside the fragment. The loop is slid passed the fragment so that the closed portion of the loop is on the opposite side of the fragment than the tube, and then the free ends of the wire are gripped with a hemostat and the hemostat is rotated about an axis perpendicular to the direction of elongation of the tube, to cause the loop and tube to tightly hold the fragment. Then the tube and loop, with tightly held fragment, are withdrawn from the root canal.

    摘要: Briefly stated, the present invention provides a kit which facilitates the removal of obstructions, such as broken files, from the root canal of a patient during an endodontic or root canal procedure. The kit includes a trephine sized to be inserted in the root canal and adapted to widen the root canal around the obstruction to expose the obstruction and an obstruction removal tool adapted to engage and mechanically grasp the obstruction to remove the obstruction from the root canal. The obstruction removal tool includes a hollow tube and a plunger slideable within the tube. The hollow tube is sized to be inserted into the root canal a distance sufficient to receive the obstruction within its lumen. A cutout is spaced from the end of the hollow tube, and the hollow tube is slid over the obstruction a distance sufficient to generally align the top of the obstruction with the cutout. A plunger having a beveled end is slid through the hollow tube. The beveled end of the plunger engages the obstruction and urges the obstruction into the cutout so that the tool will mechanically grasp the obstruction. Once the tool has mechanically grasped the obstruction, the tool with the obstruction can be removed from the root canal.

    摘要: A tool for removing a parted endodontic file from the root canal of a tooth in which a portion of the length of the file is exposed, the tool being in the form of an elongated tubular shaft, the interior diameter of which is slightly greater than the exterior diameter of the file, the tubular shaft having an enlarged handle portion at the proximal end and a vent so that liquid adhesive may be applied to the distal end, the adhesive being drawn by capillary action into the tube adjacent the distal end. The shaft distal end may then be positioned over the exposed portion of a file and retained until the liquid adhesive solidifies. Thereafter, the shaft and parted file may be removed as a unit.
