摘要: A method and apparatus for detecting the actual and true position of model railroad turnout points while not adding any load or hindrance to the turnout points or to said points operating mechanism. The movable, tapered rails of railroad turnouts are called points, and their position determines the route that the train will follow. Using Hall-effect switches and magnets, the actual and true position of the turnout throw bar and points is detected without any physical contact with the throw bar, the points, or with the mechanism that actuate said throw bar and points. The output of the Hall-effect switches is used to communicate and provide feedback of the actual position of the points to the position display indicators, which are observed by the model railroad operator, and to the model railroad control system.

摘要: A Block Module for controlling a model railroad layout, the layout being subdivided into a plurality of block districts with each block district represented by one or more of the Block Modules, is a programmable processor having inputs for receiving serial data in a loop from other Block Modules and transmitting the serial data to other Block Modules, as well as inputs for receiving data from elements in the layout and information from other Block Modules and outputs for controlling elements in the layout and communication with other Block Modules. One of the Block Modules in the loop is designated as a Master Block Control Module, and the Block Modules respond to commands transmitted from the Master Block Control Module, to commands manually entered at the block district level, and to communications from related Block Modules to control the layout on a distributed basis.

摘要: A method for controlling a model railroad stationary switch machine comprising sensing whether a train occupies a main track section near a track switch that connects between said main track section and at least two diverging track sections. An automatic switch control function for the track switch is inhibited in response to sensing that a train occupies the main track section near the track switch when a train is determined to be approaching the track switch on at least one of the diverging track sections. In addition, a method is provided for controlling a model railroad track switch comprising changing a position of the track switch, and automatically returning the track switch to a home position after expiration of a time interval following the changing of the track switch position.

摘要: A model railroad track system including first, second and third portions of model railroad track, and a movable portion of track that is movable between a first and a second position. When the movable portion is in the first position the movable portion is configured to guide a model train from the first portion of track to the second portion of track when the train moves across the movable portion in a direction of travel. When the movable portion is in the second position the movable portion is configured to guide a train from the first portion of track to the third portion of track when the train moves across the movable portion generally in the direction of travel. The system further includes an actuator movable between first and second positions, and wherein the distance between the first and second positions of the actuator constitutes a stroke length. The system also includes a switch adapter operatively coupling the actuator to the movable portion of track such that movement of the actuator from the first to the second position causes the movable portion to move from its first to its second position, wherein the distance moved by the movable portion upon the movement of the actuator differs from the stroke length.

摘要: A toy vehicle and a track for the toy vehicle are designed to allow the toy vehicle to switch from one guide groove in the track to another based on a switching command. The track includes a fork in the guide groove, and a switch arm is pivotally mounted on the track at the fork. The toy vehicle includes a guide follower that extends into the guide groove of the track to guide the vehicle along the track. The guide follower includes a retractable switching member that can be selectively extended downwards into the guide groove. When the switching member is in a retracted position, the switch arm on the track remains in a first position so that the vehicle is guided along a first branch of the fork. When the switching member is extended downwards, it interacts with a cam profile on the switch arm to cause the switch arm to move to a second position. When the switch arm is in the second position, the vehicle is guided along a second branch of the fork.
