    摘要: A load-carrying floor for a truck or trailer includes a plurality of extruded aluminum hollow floor panels wherein each panel includes spaced apart inside and outside walls connected to each other by spaced apart first and second end walls. A primary cross-member is located between and extends parallel to the first and second end walls and interconnects the inside and outside walls. The panels are abutted with each other to define a floor section including: (i) an inner load-carrying surface; (ii) an outer surface; (iii) a plurality of seams; and, (iv) opposite left and right edge regions. One-piece extruded aluminum left and right rails are connected by welding to the left and right edge regions of the floor section, respectively.

    摘要: End portions of face plates 111 and 112 of a frame member 110 are connected by a rib 116A. To protrusion chips 117b1 and 117b2 end portions of face plates 101 and 102 of another frame member 100 are overlapped. The corners between the rib 116A and the rear faces of the face plates 111 and 112 are in the form of a convex circular arc 131 which protrudes into a hollow portion 119 of the frame member 110. Both end portions of the circular arc 131b1 are connected to the rib 116A and the face plates 111 and 112 by two smooth recessed circular arcs 132b1 and 133b1. Accordingly, since a flow-out of metal does not occur from this portion, the cross-section can be small and a light weight structure can be obtained. A structural body formed of hollow frame members which are joined by friction stir welding provides a light weight structure.

    摘要: In a space frame type vehicle body structure, a floor member has a side sill inner half securely attached along each side edge thereof, and a side frame has a side sill outer half securely attached along a lower edge thereof, and these two halves are provided with mutually cooperating snap fit arrangement. Because the floor member and the side frame are individually provided with a sufficient rigidity, and they can be temporarily secured each other simply by pushing them against each other, they can be welded together with a high dimensional precision without requiring any massive or complex clamping fixture.

    摘要: A trailer includes a chassis and a body connected to the chassis. The body includes an open-top cargo-retaining space adapted to carry a bulk commodity payload. An axle subassembly is connected to the chassis and includes at least one set of left and right wheel and tire assemblies to rollably support the chassis. A landing gear assembly is connected to one or both of the chassis and body and includes legs that are selectively deployed to support a forward end of the trailer. A kingpin is located at the forward end of the trailer and is adapted for connection to a fifth-wheel of an associated vehicle used to pull the trailer. The body includes left and right bottom rails and left and right top rails spaced vertically above the left and right bottom rails, respectively. A horizontal floor extends between the left and right bottom rails. The floor includes a plurality of abutted one-piece extruded panels that each extend horizontally between and contact the left bottom rail and the right bottom rail. Each of the extruded panels includes spaced-apart inner and outer walls interconnected by spaced-apart first and second end walls. The inner and outer walls are also interconnected by at least one web that spans a space between the inner and outer walls so as to define at least two hollow cores in the extruded panel. A left vertical sidewall is connected to and extends between the left bottom rail and the left top rail. A right vertical sidewall is connected to and extends between the right bottom rail and the right top rail.

    摘要: A method for the direct manufacture of aerospace duct elements is provided comprising executing a single build run on a build chamber using direct fabrication technology to generate at least one duct section. The at least one duct section is generated by forming a plurality of partial cylinder duct segments orientated within the build chamber in a nested arrangement during the single build run, and assembling at least two of the partial cylinder duct segments to form the duct section. During the single build run a plurality of stiffening protrusions are formed on each of the partial cylinder duct segments to improve duct rigidity and to modify flow through the duct section.
