Abstract:
A powder actuated fastening tool including a charge advance apparatus for advancing a powder charge strip relative to a barrel of the tool, wherein the charge advance apparatus includes a rotatable ratchet having teeth for engaging receptacles formed in the powder charge strip, and a charge advance member coupled to a trigger of the tool, wherein the charge advance member acts on the rotatable ratchet to rotate the ratchet in response to actuation and/or release of the trigger, such that the rotation of the ratchet causes advance of the powder charge strip relative to the barrel.

The spring-loaded slidable power setting switch includes a depressible button movable from a resting position in which an outer surface of the button extends outwardly beyond the plane in which the outer surface of the rim lies to a depressed position in which the outer surface of the button extends in a same or substantially same plane in which the outer surface of the rim lies.
Abstract:
An explosive discharge actuated tool for driving fasteners has a barrel with a closed bore, an interchangeable nose piece to accommodate different length fasteners and a piston that is manually reset to firing position by a spacer-fastener being inserted into the barrel.
Abstract:
An explosive powder charge-operated setting tool for driving fastening elements in a constructional component includes a propellant-driven setting mechanism, an ignition element (23) for igniting a propellant (71) received in the propellant receptacle (18) of the setting mechanism, and a transporting device (30) for displacing a propellant magazine in a guide channel (22) and including elements operable by the ignition element (23) for displacing the transporting device from a first position in which the transportation of propellants is prevented, into a second position in which at least partial transportation of the propellants is possible.
Abstract:
A propellant charge-operating setting tool for driving fastening elements and including a housing (11), a setting mechanism (12) located in the housing (11) and actuated in response to ignition of a propellant charge (24) for driving in a fastening element, and a device (30, 40, 50, 60, 70) for cutting a used portion of a propellant charge-carrying magazine strip (22).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a propellant charge magazine for setting tools and a setting tool for driving fasteners into a substrate. The propellant charge magazine of the invention comprises a housing (24) with an internal housing space for receiving a magazine strip with propellant charges (22). At least one output opening (26) for inserting and extracting the magazine strip (21) is arranged on the housing. A first space (27) for receiving a rolled up magazine strip (21) is provided on the propellant charge magazine (20) and a second space (28) in contact with the first space (27) via an opening (29) and for accommodating part (31) of the magazine strip (21) that is re-introduced into the propellant charge magazine (20) is provided on the propellant charge magazine (20).
Abstract:
An improved powder-actuated fastener-driving tool is provided which is characterized by (a) improved gas exhaust passages for venting the hot gases of combustion from the interior of the tool, (b) an improved trigger assembly which is simple and reliable in its operation and adapted to be easily disassembled, and (c) an improved cartridge advance mechanism. The invention also includes an improved pole assembly which is detachably secured to the tool and has a unique remote tool-actuating mechanism.
Abstract:
A loading device for a power-actuated tool which comprises a fixed support having an open recess adapted to receive the open end of a tubular propellant charge-retaining holder. A movable charge transporter is mounted on the exterior of the tool and contains a through passage which is movable between a charge-receiving position adjacent to the fixed support recess, and a charge-loading position adjacent to the firing chamber of the tool. Charges are gravity fed from the transporter to the firing chamber. The transporter moves to and from the loading position by pivoting through a pre-existing loading port in the tool.
Abstract:
An open chamber gas powered tool and gas generating charge for the tool. The charge has a hollow open-ended plastic jacket of uniform noncircular cross-section from end to end containing a propellant, such as nitrocellulose, which may be electrically ignited through an open end of the jacket by a spark, hot wire or the like or ignited by detonation of a dab of priming compound contained within a recess in one end of the jacket. The tool has an open chamber breech mechanism including a cylinder containing a firing chamber opening through the cylinder circumference for transporting charges to firing position wherein the chamber is closed by the breech frame, a trigger actuated firing means for firing the charges in firing position, and operating means powered by the gas generated by each fired charge for performing a work function. The particular tool described is a fastener driving tool having an electrical firing circuit which is conditioned for operation to fire charges by pressing the tool against a workpiece, and a plunger which is propelled through a working stroke by the pressurized gas generated by the fired charges to drive fasteners, such as nails or studs, into the workpiece. The invention also provides a novel method of fabricating and packaging the charges in a magazine with the charges fixed to a web or band for feeding the charges to the tool.
Abstract:
A powder-actuated tool includes a housing and a barrel assembly moveable therein and extending therefrom. A fastener driving member is moveable in the bore of a barrel assembly between a driving position and a driven position. A muffler member surrounds said barrel assembly external of said housing and forms a chamber between said muffler member and said barrel assembly. Suitable ports are provided in the barrel assembly to vent gases from the bore to the chamber.
