    摘要: An adjustable height fifth wheel hitch is provided. The fifth wheel hitch comprises a pedestal and a fifth wheel hitch assembly. The fifth wheel hitch assembly includes journal bearings which pivotally connect with risers of the pedestal. The risers of the pedestal include a plurality of openings located at different levels. The height of the fifth wheel assembly in relation to the tractor may be adjusted by aligning openings in the journal bearings with co-level openings in the risers and inserting a mounting pin through such openings.

    摘要: A self-propelled articulated vehicle having two vehicle modules pivotally attached at their ends. Steering of the vehicle is obtained through hydraulic steering components attached between the first and second vehicle modules and pivotally attached at a common end. A single load container is carried across the two vehicle modules at pivotal support mountings, with one of the support mountings cooperating with a linear track device to displace the load container a desired direction and distance when the articulated vehicle is steered. Utilization of independent power drive for each of the two vehicle modules increases the maneuverability of the overall articulated vehicle and minimizes the miring down of the vehicle in slick, muddy, or staggered terrain. Through elimination of conventional steering techniques, increased power and lower fuel consumption is obtained through such an articulated steering technique.

    摘要: A fifth wheel coupler apparatus adapted for use with a tractor vehicle for hauling a semi-trailer vehicle including a pair of trackways carried by the tractor vehicle and a carriage assembly supported for riding movement on the trackways. A fifth wheel is mounted on the carriage assembly adapted for coupling the trailer vehicle to the front end of the semi-trailer vehicle. The trackways are inclined in a generally upwardly and rearwardly direction with respect to the horizontal or normal direction of movement of the tractor vehicle enabling the carriage assembly, and thus, the front end of the trailer vehicle to be elevated upon relative movement of the tractor vehicle with respect to the semi-trailer vehicle. A locking unit is provided to hold the carriage assembly in the raised position while the semi-trailer vehicle is transported from one location to another.
