摘要： A top engaging carrier includes a main panel which has an aperture for receiving a portion of an article. The main panel includes an annular series of tabs formed around the aperture. The aperture defines a first edge of each of the tabs of the annular series. The tabs are hingedly connected to the main panel such that they yield out of the plane of the main panel when an article is received in the aperture. One of the tabs of the annular series is defined at least in part by a first cutline extending from the aperture into the main panel. The first cutline separating at least a portion of the one tab from an adjacent tab. The main panel also includes a second cutline. The second cutline defines a portion of a second edge of each of the one tab and the adjacent tab, wherein the second edge opposes the first edge.

摘要： A multi-pack carrier for holding a plurality of bottles includes a top panel, side panels depending from the top panel, and a bottom panel. The top panel has at least a top ply, a middle ply, and a bottom ply. The top ply includes a plurality of apertures with a plurality slits radiating outwardly from an edge of the each of the apertures to define a plurality of top ply tabs around the top ply apertures. The top ply apertures having a diameter less than a diameter of the bottle where the carrier intersects the bottle when a bottle is placed in the carrier so that the top ply tabs will be angled upwardly to engage the take-out bead of the bottle. The second ply has a plurality of apertures substantially coaxial with the top-ply apertures and a plurality of slits radiating outwardly from the second ply apertures defining a plurality of second ply tabs. The second ply tabs (which are shorter than the top ply tabs) are sized to engage the bottle at a point spaced from the top ply tabs, in a near-planar orientation. The third ply includes apertures substantially coaxial with the top and middle ply apertures and has a diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the take-out bead. The bottom panel has a plurality of apertures which are substantially coaxial with the apertures in the top panel. When bottles are received in the carrier, the top ply tabs engage the chime and bear the weight of the bottle. The middle ply tabs engage the bottle to maintain the bottle substantially centered with respect to the apertures in the top and bottom panels to prevent uneven loading of the top ply tabs.In another embodiment, the bottom ply engages the underside of the bottle closure and bears the weight of the cap. The top ply tabs engage the sides of the bottle cap to help maintain the bottle's concentricity in the carrier.

摘要： A sheet that cooperates with a traditional ring carrier to create a package that covers openable ends of unitized substantially similar cans. The ring carrier unitizes an array of cans into longitudinal ranks and transverse rows. The sheet contains an array of longitudinal, substantially parallel pairs of slits corresponding with the arrayed cans. The corner slits are substantially curved and promote a positive corner wrap at the corner end of the slit. A slit transversely adjacent the corner slit is curved and a slit longitudinally adjacent to the corner slit is straight for most of its length. Two integral flaps extend transversely with respect to the sheet and are folded with respect to the remaining portion of the sheet through an angle greater than 90.degree.. Clipping the sheet onto the array of cans unitized by the ring carrier creates an assembled package. Portions of the sheet adjacent each pair of slits engage a portion of the chime of each corresponding can. Because of the slit and pre-folded integral flap configurations according to this invention, the integral flaps remain in a substantially flat position with respect to the sidewalls of the outside rows of cans.

摘要： In a package, substantially identical bottles in a generally rectangular array are combined with a carrier and with a tray. The carrier is made from a single sheet of low density polyethylene so as to have band segments defining bottle-receiving apertures. The carrier is applied to the bottles so that outer band segments of the carrier embrace portions of side walls of the outer bottles in the array. The tray is made from a single sheet of cardboard and is folded so as to define a lower portion, underlying at least a portion of each bottle in the array, and two lateral portions. Each lateral portion is folded upwardly from the lower portion and is affixed adhesively to at least one of the outer band segments of the carrier. Outer surfaces of the lateral portions are suitable for imprinting or labelling.
