The device according to the invention comprises: a processing unit (4) having an inlet (16), an outlet (38), and a first (18) and second holding member (19) defining a holding space there between for holding said material, wherein at least said first holding member is moveable; a drive unit for driving at least said first moveable holding member to obtain a compression and expansion of said holding space; an impurities collection unit (5) coupled to or disposed in said processing unit to collect impurities released from said material; The compression and expansion of the holding space ensures an effective release of impurities from the fibers of the material.

The abrasive particles may be calcium carbonate, glass, diatomaceous earth, sugar or sand. An apparatus for disintegrating a fiber agglomerate has a feed tank for receiving and holding a batch of a fiber agglomerate. A turbulence chamber is connected to the feed tank for receiving a subquantity of the batch of fiber agglomerate and disintegrating the fiber agglomerate into separate fibers with air turbulence. A screening chamber is connected to the turbulence chamber for receiving the subquantity of the batch of fiber agglomerate and screening out separate fibers from shot particles and remaining fibers. The residual fibers and shot particles are fed back to the feed tank for reprocessing to obtain the maximum output of cleaned, separated fibers.

An apparatus for mixing fibers consists of a mixing chamber having a charging device located proximate to a chamber end wall, a fiber conveyor located proximate to the chamber bottom, and a mixing plough located proximate to the chamber end wall opposite the charging device. The fiber material in the mixing chamber is conveyed by means of the fiber conveyor toward the mixing plough. Elimination of the second mixing chamber heretofore necessary for the multiple remixing of the fiber material is accomplished by using a tubular connecting device through which the mixing plough can be connected either to an apparatus for the processing of the fiber material or to the charging device.

A device for cleaning textile fiber flocks, comprising a conveyor band of a material that is penetrable by air, means for continuously feeding textile fiber flocks onto the upper run of the conveyor band and means for sucking air from below through the upper run when covered by a layer of the flocks, and a rotatable roller having elastically flexible leaves that protrude freely in radial directions and are substantially parallel to the axis of the roller, in proximity of the delivery end of the conveyor band and running in the same direction in which the upper band run moves, at such a high speed that the circumferential speed of the ends of the leaves is somewhat greater than that of the band, the roller being arranged in such a manner that the ends of the leaves strike, during their rotation, a point of the conveyor band that is not supported. A gap or interstice is provided between the roller and the conveyor band. The invention also provides optional, additional features for the cleaning device.
