摘要： An excavation apparatus especially useful when mounted on backhoes and other lighter vehicles used in the construction industry. The excavation apparatus does not require a winch for letting out and retracting its cable nor a reel for storing retracted cable which reduces the weight of the excavation apparatus, lowers its cost while facilitating both operation and servicing. The apparatus has a kelly assembly housing which houses an outer kelly section, and an extendable innermost kelly section adaptable for attachment of a tool. More than one extendable kelly section can be used. A rotary table rotates the kelly sections. A support structure supports the rotary table and the housing. A frame allows the housing to slide relative to the frame in a direction parallel to the axis of the assembly. A downcrowd mechanism, supported by the frame, downcrowds the support structure relative to the frame. A kelly deployment and retraction mechanism deploys all extendable inner kelly sections out of the housing and retracts them back into the housing. This mechanism has at least one kelly extension sheave supported by the frame, and a cable having one end attached to the innermost kelly section and a second end attached to either the support mechanism or the frame. The cable is alternately looped under lower extension, and over upper, extension sheaves so that the downcrowd mechanism also serves for letting out and retracting the cable.

The feed leg has a first feed leg member, such as a cylinder, secured to the feed mount member and a second feed leg member, such as a piston, secured to the support flange. 摘要： An earth drill for use with a vehicle of a type which performs utility pole hole drilling operations is disclosed. The drill attaches to an end of a movable boom mounted on the vehicle. An elongated guide is rotatably attachable to the boom via a rotatable coupling, enabling the drill to be rotated to a convenient angle and fixed using an eccentric shear pin. A drill head is movably mounted for advance and retraction along the elongated guide. A drilling tool is attachable to the drill head and is oriented to drill a hole as the drill head is moved with respect to a ground surface. A stabilizer attached to a lower end of the elongated guide includes anchoring holes for receiving pins which are driven into the ground in order to resist transverse and rotative movement of the guide. The guide can float upwardly during a drilling operation, guided by the pins, and need not be fixed to the ground. The invention thus provides a quickly erected and effective device to drill holes of a size and at locations suitable, for example, for utility poles along the sides of highways.

The invention is especially useful for drilling foundation holes. One embodiment of the invention can ready over walls and in-place equipment for drilling holes. One embodiment of the invention can drill holes at almost any angle desired into the earth. One embodiment can drill holes on steeply inclined terrains. Because of its low overhead requirement, the drilling rigs of this invention can be used inside existing building without damaging the ceilings or roofs to drill foundation holes for mounting new machinery. The downcrowd means of this invention does not substantially increase the height of the augering apparatus or drilling rig.

摘要： The soil sampling assembly is designed to be detachably secured within the central recess provided in the moulded rear bumper of small pick-up type trucks and the like. A bracket supports a pair of spaced and parallel members and a cylinder support extends upwardly therefrom and is adjustable lengthwise relative to said members. The cylinder is pivotally supported in a trunnion at the top of the cylinder support and the piston rod is pivotally connected to a soil probe tube extending downwardly from the cylinder.
