    Abstract: An aerodynamic element (often referred to as a vane or fletching) that is operatively coupled to the nock end (the back) of an arrow or similar projectile at an angle to the axis of the projectile is known to stabilize flight. This angle, known as offset or helical, in combination with the airflow generates both low and high pressures on different sides of the vane. This pressure difference imparts a torque around the projectiles primary axis which is one component to stabilizing the arrow's flight. Knowing the exact angle of this offset or helical of the vane to the axis of the arrow is critical to create an arrow with optimal performance. The illustrative tool allows the user to very accurately and precisely adjust a fletching jig to exactly the desired angle, as well as being able to setup multiple jigs with exactly the same setup.

    Abstract: An arrow for a bow or crossbow whose point is fitted with a capsule that can be pushed on before shooting. When the arrow is pulled out of a solid object, the capsule remains stuck in the object so that the arrow can be reused again undamaged. A hemispherical shaped flight stabilizer as viewed from the front is mounted on the forward area of a hunting point. During flight, the influence of side winds on the arrow is eliminated and thus an accurate shot is always made possible. The flight stabilizer consists of a material that can be easily destroyed when it strikes the target and is preferably in the form of a sphere that can have indentations on its surface. The shaft of a crossbow dr bow is fitted with members easily reached by the shooter, so that the point of is the arrow can be inserted exactly into the center of the spherical flight stabilizer.

    Abstract: An archery arrow testing apparatus which comprises a pair of upright arrow support stands. The apparatus further includes a pair of wooden or plastic pedestals. The stands each have a pair of spaced apart thin flat upright legs. Vertically extending slots are provided in the wooden pedestals. The slots are sized to receive and support the thin flat upright legs when the legs are engaged in the slots. An adjustably mountable rod is mounted in horizontally extending holes in the pedestals with opposite ends of the rod engaged in the holes connecting the pedestals together in a supported upright position. Archery arrow testing means is provided which comprises sets of revolving thin metal discs. Means is further provided for mounting a series of the discs in pairs on each of the pedestals with the discs being rotatable relative to the pedestals enabling an archery arrow to be spun in circumferential orbit on the discs for a human eye to scrutinize to ascertain trueness of an orbiting archery arrow.

    Abstract: A machine is provided for testing the straightness of arrows, for localizing and measuring any want of straightness, and for mechanically correcting any defect of this nature that may be discovered. The machine desirably includes a central stand on which a deflection meter is mounted, together with a straightening lever. A trackway in the form of spaced, parallel horizontal bars is provided. Arrow supporting and rotating carriages are mounted on the trackway with freedom for independent adjustment toward and from the central stand. Each carriage includes two side by side rollers and means for operating the rollers in unison to turn an arrow engaged by the meter and to sustain the arrow during straightening.
