摘要： A process cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording material, the process cartridge being transportable with the electrophotographic image forming apparatus while being set in the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, the process cartridge including a frame; an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; process means actable on the photosensitive drum; a protection shutter movable between an exposing position for opening an opening provided in the frame to expose the photosensitive drum, and a protecting position for closing the opening to protect the photosensitive drum; and a protecting member for interposing between the photosensitive drum and a transfer roller, provided in the main assembly, for transferring a toner image onto the recording material, upon transportation of the process cartridge set in the main assembly together with the main assembly, wherein the protecting member is mounted on the frame to cover the protection shutter such that protection shutter is movable from the protecting position to the exposing position in interrelation with mounting of the process cartridge to the main assembly of the apparatus.

An image forming system includes mounting equipment for mounting such a process cartridge, an airflow generator for generating an airflow passing through between the housing and the cover, a transfer mechanism for transferring a developed image formed on the image bearing member onto a recording medium, and a conveying mechanism for conveying the recording medium.

摘要： A process kit for use in an image-forming apparatus. The process kit includes a development device, a corona discharger, and a cleaning device disposed in spaced relation around the periphery of a photosensitive drum. Each of the above-mentioned components, including the drum, are releasably mounted in a primary housing which is disposed for insertion into the image-forming apparatus. A bracket is disposed at the opposite ends of the development device, corona discharger, cleaning device, and photosensitive drum to releasably secure these components in the primary housing in a manner which provides access thereto for refurbishment or replacement thereof. A removable cover is removably mounted over openings provided in the housing.

摘要： There is provided an image forming apparatus including a casing and a drum cartridge. The drum cartridge includes: a photosensitive drum having a circumferential surface which includes a first area and a second area; a first cover which pivotally moves between a first closed position where the first cover covers the first area of the photosensitive drum and a first open position where the first area is exposed; and a second cover which pivotally moves between a second closed position where the second cover covers the second area of the photosensitive drum and a second open position where the second area is exposed. A direction in which the second cover pivotally moves from the second closed position to the second open position is opposite to a direction in which the first cover pivotally moves from the first closed position to the first open position.

摘要： A color image forming apparatus wherein a belt-shaped image retainer faces an image forming device. The image forming device includes a charging device, exposure device and a plurality of developing devices which are juxtaposed with each other. The belt-shaped image retainer is in the form of a cartridge which is mounted removably in the apparatus body. The cartridge has a closable cover divided into several sections which are arranged at the positions facing the image device. The belt-shaped image retainer has a transversely movable shutter member for protecting spaced apart surface portions of the image retainer which would be otherwise exposed when the upper casing of the apparatus body is opened or when the image retainer is removed from the upper casing, by moving the shutter member transversely to cover the spaced apart exposed surface portions of the image retainer.

The case main body contains a toner to be replenished to a development device provided in an apparatus main body and is detachably attached to the apparatus main body. The shutter mount is provided to form a gap between the opened face of the case main body and the shutter mount. The shutter is provided between the opened face of the case main body and the shutter mount to be slidable to open and close the discharge port. The shutter mount includes a film which comes into sliding contact with the shutter.
