For the transmission of a telegram from the peripheral element to the control device the intermediate device receives the telegram from the peripheral element and forwards it without amendment to the control device. The telegrams are safety telegrams, so that telegrams forwarded to the control device or to the peripheral element from the respective receiving unit can be checked for freedom from errors.
