Abstract:
An apparatus includes a housing that is configured to receive and retain a plurality of removable storage media, and a shuffler that is positioned at least partially within the housing. The housing includes an open first end, an opposed, closed second end, a first channel that receives and retains a first subset of the plurality of removable storage media, and a second channel that receives and retains a second subset of the plurality of removable storage media. The first channel and the second channel are shaped to receive and retain the plurality of removable storage media in respective single-file rows via the open first end. The shuffler is movable between a resting position and a second position wherein the shuffler has been moved away from the resting position. The shuffler includes a rake that protrudes into the first channel to contact and move a first removable storage medium of the first subset of the plurality of removable storage media toward the open first end when the shuffler is moved from the resting position to the second position.
Abstract:
A disc device records or reproduces information in or from a disc stored in a disc cartridge. The disc cartridge includes a casing having a front face with an opening for receiving the disc; and a cover closing the opening of the casing. The cover includes a slider moving along a side face of the casing, a shutter closing the opening; and a hinge part rotatably coupling the shutter to the slider. The disc device includes a stopper contacting the slider when the disc cartridge is inserted into the disc device to restrict movement of the slider in an insertion direction, and a cam part separating the hinge part from a contact region between the shutter and the casing when or before the casing further moves with the stopper restricting movement of the slider and the shutter is pressed by the casing to rotate about the hinge part.
Abstract:
A cartridge handling apparatus includes cartridge storage magazines which define cartridge storage slots therein. A projecting element positioned on a back inside wall of each of the storage slots of the storage magazines fits into a recess in the cartridge when the cartridge is oriented in a proper orientation so as to permit the cartridge to be fully inserted into the storage slot in the proper orientation. The projection prevents full insertion of the cartridge in the cartridge storage slot when the cartridge is not in the proper orientation. By changing the orientation of the projection, the storage slot accepts cartridges in a different orientation as the proper orientation. A snap lock is provided on each of the storage slots to engage the cartridge when fully inserted therein. 12
Abstract:
A disc storage system includes an automated disc storage unit capable of storing a large number of discs in respective individual slots. A disc player, which is incorporated in a personal computer housing, is connected via a hard-wire connection to the unit. A keyboard and a screen of the personal computer are used to control the unit and to display information corresponding to status of the unit. The computer is programmed to control the unit to eject selected discs under instructions of a user and to manage the retrieval and storage of the discs at all times. A very large number of discs can be stored and retrieved automatically and up-to-date records kept, and displayed if required, for convenient use as required.
Abstract:
A reusable package and display construction for holding pre-recorded media is disclosed which comprises an integral one-piece plastic housing having a storage compartment for holding the pre-recorded media and integral with the package construction a display compartment for displaying indicia in a portion of the housing adjacent to the storage compartment wherein the display compartment provides an area in which the indicia may be viewed when the indicia is displayed within the display compartment and the pre-recorded media is held within the storage compartment.
Abstract:
A cassette storing a recording medium therein and having an opening for recording information on and/or reproducing information from the recording medium therethrough, or a storage case for storing such a cassette has, on its outer surface, a label area made of a phosphorescent material for allowing information to be written with a writing instrument.
Abstract:
A cassette includes a base having two notches and depressions formed in the side walls. An insert is received in the base and has one or more recesses aligned with the depressions of the base. The insert may receive an audio tape and has two notches aligned with the notches of the base. A cap is pivotally coupled to the base and has one or more protrusions for engaging with the recesses and the depressions so as to retain the cap in place. The cassette has a size that may be stored in a typical CD storing rack.
Abstract:
An environmentally appropriate protective covering for articles, in particular rectangular parallelepipedal bodies, comprises a container receiving the article or rectangular parallelepipedal body, if appropriate is of a rectangular parallelepipedal form and is closed by means of an at least three-part, partly separable closure strip. For opening, the central part is separated from the side parts, which remain on the container. The presence or absence of the central part consequently represents an indication of originality. The closure strip can also be used advantageously in the case of a protective covering unit, comprising a plurality of stacked containers, for connecting and forming a pack. The invention can be used advantageously in any application where a single closure strip can be used to economize on outer packaging materials.
Abstract:
A container for carrying and transporting computer tape cartridges comprising a container top pivotally secured to a container base. Both the top and the base are provided with hollow walls and ends. Both the base and the top are further provided with ribs and ridges which hold computer tape cartridges stationary while the container is being carried and/or transported. A caddy is removably disposed in said container.
