摘要： A compact portable vise of the type designed to hold a fishing hook while a fly-like lure is formed, using methods known as "fly-tying," on the hook for use in the sport of fly fishing. The vise is particularly small to be shirt-pocket portable and alternatively may be supported by a clamp directly engaging a support or by a vise clamp that is mounted with screws on a railing, a gunwale, a board, or a tree, either fallen or erect. The vise head is connected to such support by an articulated arm that engages the support. The arm includes at least one pivot link that permits it to be bent about a first axis and a second pivot link connecting the vise head that permits the head to pivot on an axis perpendicular to said first axis and close to and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the head. These two pivot links permit easy and flexible manipulation of the vise head for viewing the work piece from a myriad of angles. The articulated arm bends to wrap around the clamp for compact storage.

摘要： A vise for holding a fish hook during the operation of tying a fly thereon. A shaft is secured to a stable surface, the shaft having an upper coupling integral therewith. A base head is pivotally secured to the shaft coupling, the base head having a threaded aperture disposed therethrough adapted to receive a rotatable bolt therein. The rotatable bolt extends through the base head and is secured to an intermediate housing. The intermediate housing is rotatable in a 360.degree. arc with respect to an axis through the base head. A vise assembly is pivotally coupled to the opposite end of the intermediate housing. The vise assembly is adjustable at both the forward and rearward section of the jaws permitting the mounting of very small fish hooks. The vise assembly, intermediate housing and base head provide for three-dimensional movement of the mounted fish hook to facilitate the tying of flies thereon.

摘要： A fly-tying vise has a vise portion for gripping a fly-tying hook supported by a vertical support post above a clamp portion for gripping the free edge of a tabletop. A jaw assembly of the vise portion has a pair of hook-clamping jaws opened and closed by a thumb screw. The jaw assembly cooperates with a spring-biased detent to allow rotation of the jaws without changing their closure setting through application of a combined axial and torsional pressure to the thumb screw. The clamp portion includes a sleeve slidably adjustable along the support post and a pair of clamping arms, one fixed to and the other slidable along the sleeve to adjust for different tabletop thicknesses. The slidable arm carries a thumb-screw-operated bearing disc which creates a bind between the slidable arm and sleeve to hold such arm in an adjusted position when the disc and fixed arm bear against opposed surfaces of a tabletop.

摘要： A C-shaped framework includes an upright post and an outwardly projecting anvil on top of the post, the top surface of the anvil being slotted to receive the bight of a fish hook and thus orient the eye of the hook in a direction such that fly material can conveniently be attached to the hook. A tightening band includes a loop which extends over the bight of the hook and thus selectively secures a hook positioned in the anvil slot. The band is connected to a drawing stem translatably disposed in an outwardly projecting bearing block forming the bottom of the C-shaped framework. The lower end of the drawing stem projects downwardly below the bottom surface of the bearing block and has a transverse axle mounted thereon. A cam eccentrically journaled on the axle is rotated by a lever. In one direction of rotation of the cam, the drawing stem and attached band are free to be moved upwardly to release the hook; in the opposite direction of cam rotation, the cam bears against the bottom surface of the bearing block and by reaction translates the drawing stem in a downward direction so that the band loop tightly clamps the bight of the fish hook against the anvil. The effective length of the drawing stem can be adjusted for different hook sizes.

A fastener is attached to the second end of the elongated rod and is adapted to hold a fishing lure or bait. Alternatively, a magnet may be attached to the second end of the elongated rod. The elongated rod is a flexible wire adapted to wrap around a fishing rod, thereby providing visibility during low light and night time conditions.
