An EL strip is provided on each side of the vest extending from the bottom of the vest upwards toward the shoulder portion. A power source is supported by the vest and connected to the EL lamp strips to supply electrical energy to the strips so that they emit EL light, wherein the EL light emitted by the EL strip is a safety yellow color, and wherein other portions of the vest are a safety orange color. Further safety articles of clothing and devices are also described.
Abstract:
A body protection device in the form of an inflatable vest includes an inflation mechanism that is actuated upon separation or removal of the wearer from a vehicle. A compressed gas cartridge is held in an interior pocket of the vest and attached to an inflatable bladder. The compressed gas cartridge communicates with the interior of the bladder through a cartridge actuation mechanism and an inflation tube. The cartridge actuation mechanism includes a triggering device that operates an actuation lever to open the cartridge. The actuation lever is actuated in response to a pulling force of predetermined magnitude that detaches the triggering mechanism from the actuation mechanism. The actuation lever is connected to the vehicle by a lanyard, which lanyard, when a wearer of the vest is forcibly separated from the vehicle, actuates the triggering device before detaching from the actuation mechanism, thereby opening the cartridge to inflate the vest.
Abstract:
A utility vest enabling attachment of an at least one tool pouch having a generic tool belt type attachment means and method for employing same is disclosed. The utility vest comprises a vest portion having a back and two front side portions defining two armholes, a neck opening and a reinforced bottom edge along which are spaced a plurality of apertures and, one or more adapter portions comprising a rectangular staking plate on which are mounted two or more attachment means for securing the adapter portions to the reinforced bottom edge of the vest portion by inserting the attachment means into the apertures at a location selected by a user. The staking plate is sized in width to enable a tool pouch having a generic tool belt type attachment means to be fitted thereon prior to attachment of the adapter portion to the vest portion. Tool belt type tool pouches may be thereby attached to the vest at locations to distribute their weight properly so as to minimize strain to the user. The vest is constructed of a strong and durable mesh material to enable ventilation of the user while supporting the weight of the tool pouches and enclosed contents, and may further comprise an insertable girth extender.

The IV container is configured to carry an IV bag (150) as well as all the medical supplies necessary to provide an IV to a patient. The container is constructed so as to remain in the open position to allow the user to use both hands to tend to the patient. A clip strap (46) with a self-closing hook (48) is provided with the container to allow the container to be hooked near a patient for transport with the patient. The medical supply container has a variety of uses and can be provided with inserts with loops (69) for holding airway equipment or inserts without loops to hold additional emergency medical supplies.
