摘要： A self-opening/closing umbrella comprises a handle, an outer tube, a middle tube partially mounted in the outer tube and including a lower end securely attached to the handle and an upper end in the outer tube. and an inner tube partially mounted in the middle tube and including a lower end in the middle tube and an upper end extending beyond the middle tube and the outer tube. A rib-mounting base is securely mounted to the upper end of the inner tube to move therewith. A stretcher-mounting runner is securely mounted to the upper end of the outer tube to move therewith, the runner being slidably mounted around the inner tube. A compression spring is attached between the runner and the upper end of the middle tube. When an opening button is pushed, the runner and the outer tube are moved upward under a first stage of extension of the compression spring, thereby opening the umbrella. When the closing button is pushed while the umbrella is in the open state, the base and the inner tube are moved upward under a second stage of extension of the compression spring, thereby closing the umbrella.

摘要： A foldable umbrella includes a control device on the handle of the umbrella and the control device includes a ring which has a projection that is engaged three aligned holes in three tubes of a shaft when the when the umbrella is folded. An end member is connected to a wire which reeves through pulleys on a finishing cap and a runner on the shaft. The end member is compressed by a compressing plate in the control device. The ring is pushed by pushing a control button at a first time to disengage the projection from the aligned holes to let the shaft expand. The control button is pushed at a second time to remove the end member from the compressing plate to fold the umbrella.

A plurality of spoke members is pivotally coupled to a distal end of the second portion. A canopy portion is operationally coupled to the plurality of spokes. The plurality of spoke members provides support for the canopy portion. The plurality of spoke provides a mechanical interface between the main shaft member and the canopy portion. The canopy portion is moveable from the stored position to the deployed position when a distal end of the first portion of the main shaft member extends through the upper aperture.

The mechanism primarily consists of a spring, one end of which is attached to a second umbrella stretcher and the other end connected to a flexible rib and an umbrella strut. When the umbrella is collapsed, the restoring force of the spring will directly urge umbrella stretchers and ribs to move toward the central umbrella rod. The mechanism of the invention can produce an effect of smoothly collapsing umbrellas with less acting force. In addition, there is only one hole required for the attachment of the umbrella strut and flexible rib. Thus it also has the effects of enhanced strength and shortened manufacturing processes.

摘要： An umbrella opening mechanism adapted to open an umbrella comprising a shank having a central bore, a crown fixed to a top end of the shank, a runner movable along the shank and rib-stretcher sets connected between the crown and the runner for supporting an umbrella canopy is disclosed. The umbrella opening mechanism includes a winding device manually controlled by a crank arm. A first rope which has a first end fixed to the winding device and is capable to be wound onto the winding device extend through the central bore of the shank with a second end thereof attached to a movable connection element. Two pulleys are fixed to the shank and arranged in two radial holes defined in the shank proximate the crown and in communication with the central bore. A second rope has a center point fixed in the central bore and two half sections slidably extending through and supporting the connection element. Each half section has an end extending out of the shank through the corresponding radial hole and supported by the pulley to be fixed to the runner at two opposite sides. By actuating the winding device to wind the first rope, the connection element is moved and the second rope is pulled into the shank thereby driving the runner toward the crown and thus opening the umbrella.
