摘要： A seating unit containing a foldable bed includes: a seating unit frame having a pair of opposed arms; a housing including a storage cavity, the housing fixed to the arms of the seating unit frame; a seat section; an intermediate section; a head section; and a mechanism having pivotally interconnected links, the mechanism interconnecting the base with the head, intermediate and seat sections. The mechanism controls the movement of the head, intermediate and seat sections between a folded position, in which the head, intermediate and seat sections are positioned in vertically stacked relationship, with the head section below the intermediate section and the seat section above the intermediate section, the head and intermediate sections being positioned in the cavity of the housing, and the head and intermediate sections being generally horizontally disposed and the seat section having a pitch angle of between about 1 and 7 degrees to horizontal, and an unfolded position, in which the head, intermediate and seat sections are horizontally disposed and serially aligned to form a sleeping surface.

摘要： A seating unit with at least one independently movable seat sections, is disclosed which includes a main frame arranged for support of a back rest in fixed relation thereto and one or more seat frames for supporting the seat sections. Support tracks slidably support each seat frame with respect to the main frame. Each seat frame can be moved from a retracted position to an extended position in relation to the main frame. A locking device secures a respective seat frame in relation to the main frame in a plurality of positions between the retracted position and the extended position. Numerous seat frame embodiments are disclosed. In addition, a unique cable-based actuation assembly is described for manually positionable seat configurations. Electrically powered versions are also disclosed in which one or more motors are incorporated in the seating unit and provide powered extension and retraction of one or more individual seats. Remote control systems for electrically powered drives are also disclosed.

摘要： An improved sofa-sleeper structure having a foldable bed frame, the bed frame including a cloth front deck and a cloth rear deck. The cloth decks are fixed one to the other, e.g., by stitching, at their adjoining edges, and are attached by tension springs to the bed frame. A tensioning device extends between side members of the bed frame in the area where the front and rear decks are fixed together, the tensioning device maintaining the front deck relatively taut when the bed frame is folded into the sofa attitude, thereby aiding in establishing a spring surface for the sofa's cushions. A mattress is connected to the cloth front and rear decks in fixed fashion around its periphery, e.g., by stitching, thereby stabilizing the mattress in position on the bed frame.

摘要： In a convertible sofa-bed in which a mattress is folded over upon itself, a bed-folding linkage is provided which compresses the mattress with great leverage, thus providing means for facilitating the opening and closing of the sofa-bed, even when using relatively thick mattresses. The bed mechanism includes a mattress support having first, second, third and fourth hinged sections whose folding is controlled by the bedfolding linkage. The mattress-compression linkage includes a first link connected to the first or foot section, and a second link connected to the third section of the mattress support structure. An abutment is provided on the third section. The abutment is located so that when the bed is folded up, the second link hits the abutment and this causes the linkage to be pulled tight and locked in place to compress the folded mattress in a compressed condition. The pivot point of the mattress-compression linkage on the first section of the mattress support is a substantial distance from the junction between the first and second sections of the mattress support, thus giving substantial leverage to the mattress-compression linkage. A further linkage is provided for moving the pivot point on the first section even farther away from the junction so as to increase the leverage even further. A locking linkage is provided to lock the corner between the second and third sections of the mattress support and hold it in a rigid position when the bed is folded.
