A machine for covering packaging boxes (S) with a sheet (F) comprises at least one presser (10) and one folding blade (11) that move horizontally to apply the edges (L) of a glued sheet (F) to corresponding outside walls (P) of a box (S). The presser (10) and/or the blade (11) are adjustable in angular position with respect to one or more axes of rotation.

Triangular packaging comprising a flexible outer wrapper and an inner support means, in which the flexible outer wrapper comprises a bag formed from two panels, each of which has a first side, a second side extending from a first end of the first side at a first angle which is greater than 90 degrees to the first side, and a third side extending from a second end of the first side at substantially the same greater than 90 degrees first angle in the opposite direction, in which the first sides of the two panels meet, the second sides of the two panels meet and the third sides of the two panels meet such that a bag is formed, in which the inner support means is disposed inside said bag, and is mounted in compression between the two panels such that a complimentary packaging structure is formed in which the first sides of the two panels meet at a second angle which is substantially twice that by which the first angle exceeds 90 degrees.

A tray in tray container of corrugated board material is formed from a pair of pre-formed flat body blanks in a bi-level machine having vertically aligned upper and lower dies in which a mandrel reciprocates vertically. The inner body blanks and outer body blanks are stacked in feed hoppers adjacent the upper and lower dies, respectively, and individually stripped out of their respective hoppers into horizontally disposed positions over their respective dies, substantially simultaneously. The feed directions of the two hoppers are right angularly related to one another and glue stripes are applied to each of the body blanks during their transit from the hopper into the corresponding die. Descent of the mandrel initially forms the upper inner body blank into an erect tray configuration within the upper die and continued downward movement of the mandrel drives the completely formed and glued inner box into contact with the flat outer body blank, the latter then being formed and glued around the inner body blank during subsequent passage of the mandrel into the lower die.

To associate a paper insert with a carton, a first identifier (such as identifying indicia) is read from the insert and a second identifier is read from the carton blank. A determination is made whether the first identifier and the second identifier indicate the paper insert is properly matched with the carton blank. If yes, the paper insert is affixed to the carton blank and the carton blank is folded around the insert and its margins glued together to form a flat sleeve surrounding the insert. If no, the mismatch may be indicated.

A machine for folding and gluing folding boxes has a first folding station and at least one second folding station that follows downstream. Machine components are provided which can be positioned transversely and which contain conveying elements for blanks for the folding boxes and at least one adhesive application unit. The machine further has actuating drives for positioning the machine components, and a rotary station which is disposed downstream of the first folding station and upstream of the second folding station. The rotary station has a fixedly disposed transport device for the blanks. A controller controls the actuating drives of the machine components which are provided in front of and behind the rotary station and which can be positioned transversely, as a function of the type of folding boxes that is to be produced.
Abstract:
A machine for packing cigarettes in which packets, having one open end, are made by successively wrapping an inner layer of foil and an outer layer of paper round a former, transferring the open ended packets into a pocket on a conveyor, and then inserting a batch of twenty cigarettes into each packet. A plurality of packet-making devices, and batch-forming devices are provided, the conveyor being so positioned that each pocket first passes all the packet-making devices in succession and then all the batch-forming devices in succession.
