Abstract: A method and apparatus for making bags or pouches is disclosed. It includes a track, at least two sleds that move on the track, and operating stations mounted on the sleds. The film moves along the track, and the sleds move with the film while performing operations on the film. The system can have the sleds stationary while operating for an intermittent machine, and move to reconfigure when the film is moving. The operating stations include one or more of a sealer, a heater, a cooler, an inserter, a knife, a punch, a perforator, a static charger, and a printer. The track forms a continuous path or is linear. A controller controls the sleds and operating stations. The controller includes an operating time and/or a reconfiguration module. The operating time module is responsive to a user set material thickness or a sensed material thickness.

Abstract: A separation welding device for the sectional joining and sectional separation of weldable film layers includes a temperature-controlled working surface that is designed to support joinable and separable film layers and further includes an electrical heating device as well as a counterholder for sectionally applying pressure to the joinable and separable film layers, which delimits a variably adjustable working gap with the working surface and that includes two mutually spaced joining stamps and one separating stamp arranged between the joining stamps wherein the separating stamp and/or at least one joining stamp is moveably attached to the counterholder wherein provision can be made for the separating stamp and/or the joining stamp to each be assigned a force sensor and/or a motion sensor to calculate a separation sequence determined by the separating stamp and/or a joining sequence determined by the joining stamp.

Abstract: A flexible side-gusseted package and methods of making the same are disclosed. The package has a central longitudinal axis, a front panel, a back panel, and a pair of gusseted side panels. The front panel is secured to the gusseted side panels along a pair of side seal lines. The back panel is secured to the gusseted side panels along a pair of side seal lines. Each of the seal lines includes a pair of end portions and an intermediate portion. The intermediate portion, e.g., a concave recessed portion, of each side seal line is located closer to the central longitudinal axis than the end portions of the side seal lines to provide a package which is somewhat necked-down at its middle, to facilitate grasping of the package by users.

Abstract: A fixture mounting assembly facilitates efficient and convenient mounting of lighting fixtures and like elements on various types of ceiling mounting components. In one embodiment, the mounting assembly in configured to readily adjustable in length, with the adjustable nature of the assembly facilitating versatile use by permitting convenient adjustment of the assembly to accommodate different, typically standardized spacing of the mounting components. In this embodiment, the assembly includes first and second, inner and outer channel members arranged in sliding, telescopic relationship. The channel members define and arrangement of openings and slots to facilitate fitment to different types of ceiling mounting components. The telescoping nature of the channel members facilitate their fitment to associated ceiling mounting components which may have different, standardized spacing. Efficient and versatile use desirably offers significant savings in time and installation costs for fixture installation. In alternative embodiment, a fixture hanger assembly includes a pair a substantially identical channel members configured for efficient fitment to so-called hard-lid/hat-rack ceiling components.
