    摘要: A self-cleaning nozzle for lithographic printing dampeners includes a central liquid duct and an air expansion chamber surrounding the liquid duct and defined by a cylindrical wall closed at an entrance end by a baffle having circumferential slits therethrough and at an exit end by a planar end wall spaced from the termination of the liquid duct and forming a mixing corridor therebetween. The end wall is positioned perpendicular to the liquid duct and to the direction of air traveling through the expansion chamber, thereby increasing turbulence in the air to more effectively break up the liquid stream into fine droplets. A slot orifice is formed in the end wall and is defined by a peripheral surface which forms an acute angle with an inner surface of the end wall and an obtuse angle with the outer surface thereof.

    摘要: Apparatus for dampening a printing press comprises a spray bar (26) with solenoid operated nozzles (29) for dispensing a dampening fluid to the press, a controller (30) that sets the flow rate of the dampening fluid to the press through the nozzles, and workstation (31) operable to drive the controller (30). The nozzles (29) are to set an initial flow rate for the commencement of a print run, corresponding to an initial setting value (IS) dependent on a default value (D) and a stored value (AVOFS) derived during at least one preceding print run, and then the setting is updated during the print run by updated data (AS) corresponding to an updated flow rate for the commenced print run. An offset value (OFS) is then calculated based on the difference between (IS) and (AS). The stored value (AVOFS) is then calculated based on a running average of (OFS) for successive print runs.

    摘要: A method of providing a software zero state for a plurality of ink adjusting modules in a printing press. Each of the ink adjusting modules are provided for adjusting an associated plunger assembly for dispensing ink to an ink rail in the printing press, each ink adjusting module having an ink control lever which contacts the plunger assembly to change the ink volume being pumped by the associated plunger assembly to the ink rail, having a mechanical stop for the ink control lever and having an adjustable ink control rod contacting the ink control lever. The method has the steps of: placing the printing press in a manual mode; positioning the ink control lever of each ink adjustment module at the associated mechanical stop; operating a bidirectional motor in each ink adjustment module to move the ink control lever to a position corresponding to a desired black printing via the ink module control rod which is connected to the motor and which contacts the control lever; and measuring the position of the motor with a potentiometer; storing the position of each motor, from a position value output by the associated potentiometer, in a memory thereby providing the software zeros for the printing press.
