摘要： A method of processing and depositing sliver includes the following steps: drafting the running sliver in a drawing frame; forwarding the sliver by the drawing frame to a coiler head having a sliver outlet; depositing the sliver by the coiler head into a coiler can located underneath the coiler head; replacing a coiler can filled with sliver with an empty coiler can; and rupturing the sliver during the replacing step. To obtain the desired rupture of the sliver, the draft of the running sliver is increased in the drawing frame to such an extent as to provide a location of reduced thickness in the running sliver. Thereupon the filled can is moved away from under the coiler head when the location of reduced thickness in the running sliver is situated in a zone of the sliver outlet of the coiler head.

摘要： In a machine for drafting staple fibers into yarn including a plurality of vertically spaced sets of drafting rolls, each set including at least two driven drafting rolls, each set including at least two driven drafting rolls and associated cot rolls in a nip forming relationship, and removable double apron assemblies positioned between adjacent sets of drafting rolls all mounted to the machine frame, a jet twister for consolidating the fibers and a windup for the yarn, an apparatus for improving the handling of fibers during drafting. The apparatus comprises a forked arm mounting a pair of cot rolls for rotation, a multi-point linkage connecting the forked arm to the frame, providing for spacial movement of said cot rolls with respect to the axis of their companion rolls, a pneumatic cylinder with a regulated, pressurized source of fluid connected between the frame and the linkage for regulating the force exerted by the cot roll on the draft roll, and an elongated slotted guide freely riding the nip and adjacent areas of the draft and cot rolls, said guide being contoured to fit said areas and having a fibrous surface adjacent the roll surfaces for cleaning the roll surfaces. An enclosure around the jet is provided with a coanda surface below the jet to direct fluid exiting the jet away from the yarn path.

摘要： An apparatus for measuring the drafting force and drafting force variability in conventional drafting systems. The force sensing assembly together with the drafting rolls and the associated roll driving mechanism of the apparatus are oscillatingly supported on a resilient directionally restricted pivot, so that drafting force is transformed into bending movement which movement causes angular displacement of the assembly around the resilient pivot as a center. Force measurement is accomplished via an electronic strain gauge. The electrical signals generated by the strain gauge are employed as analogs of drafting force and drafting force variability and accordingly analyzed automatically or semiautomatically.
