Abstract:
Upon rupture of a thread or the like a thread monitor or stop motion moves about a pivot point in clockwise direction, and thus, by means of a release rod, causes an entrainment element to come into engagement with a to-and-fro driven entrainment member. Consequently, an actuation rod is upwardly moved and latched by a support lever in its upper position. Due to this movement a feed bobbin along with the therewith operatively correlated thread guides are lifted, so that the thread travel path is shifted out of the effective region of a singeing burner. Due to the raising of the feed bobbin there is diminished the spacing between such feed bobbin and a winding bobbin. Due to lifting of the actuation rod the winding bobbin, in response to the operation of a pawl and a tooth segment, is raised from a driving cam or grooved drum. The raised position of the feed bobbin facilitates the knotting of the thread.
Abstract:
An apparatus (V) for the singeing of threads (1), preferably of a thread assembly, for example for use in the manufacture of a carpet, the thread assembly comprising twisted threads of a plastic material, such as nylon (polyamides), polyester and the like. The apparatus (V) comprises a heat section, and a burner (5) which produces a singeing flame (7). The threads (1) run, upstream and/or downstream of the singeing flame (7), through the heat section (18), the heat section being formed independently of the burner (5) and being set at a temperature influencing the macromolecular structure of the plastic material.
Abstract:
A method for pretreating a staple-fiber carpet yarn (5) before it is processed to make a carpet, in order to reduce the hairiness and fuzz accumulation associated with such yarns. The surface of the carpet yarn (5) is exposed for a brief time to the action of a temperature which is very high relative to the characteristic temperatures of the carpet yarn material. This can be carried out in a singe burner (100) through which the carpet-yarn threads (5) are guided in their lengthwise direction.

Abstract:
A thread singeing device for twisting and spooling machines with an electrically heatable singeing head which head comprises a plurality of longitudinally slotted hollow cylinders one extending around the other, while the end faces of said hollow cylinders are engaged by an annular slotted disc each consisting of a high heat-resistant insulating material, and while the unit composed of said cylinders and annular discs is encased by two slotted annular bodies supported by arms connected to a plate.
