A reed drawing-in apparatus provides a method whereby a warp thread can be properly and smoothly drawn in a respective gap between adjoining dents of even an extremely high-density reed without being cut off during the reed drawing-in operation. A threader apparatus which can stand longer use is also used. The work carrier sequentially stops at a respective gap between adjoining dents of the reed while it moves towards the latitudinal direction of said reed. A gap opener carried on the work carrier temporarily enlarges a target gap and a threader thrusts in the enlarged gap so as to hook a warp thread sorted out from a thread supply section. A shed formation device with a frame assembly having at least two harnesses mounted for movement in the frame. Each harness includes a plurality of heddles through which CMD yarns are passed. The existing cross machine direction (CMD) yarns of the fabric pass over an out-feed bar mounted to the frame assembly as they exit the heddles. A replacement CMD yarn supply provides replacement CMD yarns to the heddles for reweaving with the machine direction (MD) yarns to form seam loops and finished fabric ends. The replacement CMD yarns pass over an in-feed bar, mounted to the frame assembly, prior to passing through the heddles. The harnesses are manipulated to form an unweaving shed in the existing CMD yarns and re-weaving shed in the replacement CMD yarns. Retractable expansion forks assist the unweaving and reweaving of the MD yarns. A leasing device captures MD yarns from the unweaving shed and releases them into the reweaving shed to form seam loops and finished ends.

The heald handling apparatus contains carrier rails for the storage of the healds and a transport device for feeding the healds to a separating station. Each carrier rail is held by a plurality of controlled clamps and is thereby subdivided into a plurality of sections, each for receiving a heald set. The transport of the healds takes place in sets from section to section, the clamp located between the respective sections being opened. The control of the clamps takes place by means of sensors assigned to the clamps, at least one sensor being provided for each pair of clamps belonging together. The heald handling apparatus can be used in connection with healds having closed end loops and healds having open end loops.
